Lallana

I must confess I don't really get the "holds onto it for too long" criticism. I'll have to start paying attention more to see if it holds true.

Even if it's true though there are mitigating circumstances - half the time there aren't very many good options available to the man with the ball.

I was a little harsh on Ibe at the weekend but he was often given the ball only for his team-mates to just sort of sit back, watch and wait -"there you go, make something happen" - whilst he gets doubled on.

Yeah I don't overly agree with the criticism either. Actually I don't get the Lallana hate at all. I think people have a set on him and it's stuck.

What did you make of his first half performance on Monday?

When the match thread comments came about whether Lallana was actually on the pitch, I started looking out for him rather than watch the play develop. I wanted to see what kind of positions he was taking up during our attacks. For me, he was often in positions where it was impossible for him to receive a pass. He didn't show for a pass and that's why he wasn't involved much in the game. This isn't the first match this has happened to him.

He did work hard when we didn't have the ball though, but for me that's not enough for a Liverpool attacker. I want to see them demand the ball all the time, to want to be on the ball all the time.

I didn't obsess over his performance mate. I just thought he wasn't as anonymous as some made out. I didn't get to the match thread til after the game so just took the game in it's entirety. Yeah Lallana was quiet in the first half but we didn't have many others pulling up trees to make Lallana look less effective than others.

I like Lallana as a player but totally agree that we need more from him if he is to continue holding down an automatic place.

He seems like the kind of player that needs to play in the hole to be more effective.
in and around the box. To me he is a support striker kind, who disappears out wide.

But there is a problem as we often lack bodies upfield. Then there is Coutinho, who plays in that space mostly.
