unlike krump, I think lucas does his job (shielding the defense) competently enough but we need more going forwards then he is able to give. with mash as the holding midfielder he did his job high up the pitch meaning the attacking players got the ball faster and with alonso he was able to hurt team even from a deep position.

seriously, would we have missed lucas if he wasn't on the pitch yesterday? that would hae freed up a position in midfield to add another attacker. so I'm not laying into lucas' ability as a holding midfielder I just think we need someone who is able to give more going forwards.

ross correctly pointed out that I've chanced my position on this and he is right I have, I just feel we can get away without a dedicated holding now whereas before I felt the defense needed more protection.

It's more than that mate. I have had just about enough of people insulting our intelligence for actually questioning what he brings to the team.

It's not as simple as saying "we didn't concede so the defense and defensive midfielder is not to be faulted"...I didn't want to argue on that point, and make it tedious but here we are.

I just about disagree with everything Ryan has posted above. It is accepting mediocrity like Lucas in a crucial position, that has got us into this position. We have started believing an honest trier is better than a enigmatic talent. We have started accepting "oh the better players don't want to come to us, it's ok to get Downing in. He will perform averagely well like Lucas does." "Meireles doesn't want to play for us? Oh, ok we will roll over and give into wishes"......where is the fucking ambition? I'll start believing it when we relegate the likes of Lucas to the bench or even better, when we sell or release him.

I cannot tolerate this loser's mentality anymore. I've followed this team through thick and thin, but i can't stomach the lack of ambition and backbone.....it's not enough if you show it in press statements, your actions must show that. The only thing/person that makes me feel proud about our club right now, is Steven Gerrard, and like our club, he is crippled.....woe is me.

I don't know mate.....it's called passion. And people say things that they don't really mean when they are passionate about something. It's a spur of the moment thing. I was fucking angry when i called our team "One big cunt"....but do i believe that? If we are fair weather cunts, then we would have started fallowing Manchestester City, Chelsea at even United a long time back, we do not have a death wish to support this club and burst an artery in the process.

I think it's unnecessary to take the moral high road here.....it's just me.

I wasn't trying to take any moral high ground just explaining how I feel sometimes. I don't understand why people would say things they don't mean - passion or not. I think I'm as passionate as the next fan when it comes to Liverpool but I just can't comprehend some reactions at times - they just don't seem well reasoned. I'm lucky enough to go the game I know and I count it as a privilege and, when you see your team play like yesterday, you really do walk out with the wind taken out of your sails - like most fans feel. I purposely avoid come on here directly after most games as I find it hard to understand or stomach some reactions. As for bursting an artery, I've been there so many times. I think I screamed like a girl when the board with 6 minutes added time was held up in the 2005 semis. I think 'spur of the moment' sums it up though - there's a lot of that and I simply don't see what it achieves. I don't see how that is taking the moral high ground meself

during the big summer clearout all the players I dislike were fucked off and my favorite player was sold in jan so for the first time since supporting liverpool I have no player I really like or hate.

I tend to have a good vent in the pub myself. Can't see myself wanting to kick shite out of some stranger though neil. I was having a good gas with some Swansea fans yesterday. Very frustrated at our performance but its hardly their fault
