Keita off?

Gotta admit Keita has now officially replaced Harry Kewell as our most disappointing signing ever for me. I don't usually get hyped on the highlights too much but everything I saw from him genuinely led me to believe we're getting an upgraded version of peak Kante who was exactly what we needed.

The confidence of the club being prepared to wait a year for him to arrive just raised the level of expectation and excitement, but it turned out the club was a bit like the class idiot patiently awaiting the reunion with his girlfriend who has gone on a student exchange - before she returns with extra 10 kilos and a case of chlamydia
Surely Carroll, benteke, Dundee, Joe Cole and (dumbfuck Cornerkick specialist) asshat all are are up there as our most disappointing signings

They were all, to a certain degree, shrug of the shoulders signings. Kewell was actually good before he came to us.

Nah, not for me. Always thought Carroll was a very expensive punt, Benteke painfully obviously the wrong fit, Aspas a "whatever" signing and I'm too young to recall much about Dundee apart from him being the punchline to shit jokes

Out of those, Joe Cole comes closest as I rated him at Chelsea and never in a million years thought he'd be that bad. But he was a 30 year old free agent, not a big money signing that was supposed to be the base of our midfield for years to come

Keita was fcuked by the Guinea FA’s insistence on his travelling and playing while injured or not fully recovered from injury.

There’s a difference between being disappointed at a signing that was a total boss, but just didn’t work out - Acquilani, Kewell, Keita (notice the common thread of why they underperformed) and the fucking munters we should never have signed because they were fucking shite in the first place - ones that shouldn’t disappoint you because they were precisely what anyone half sentient expected them to do (fuck all) - Balotelli, Benteke, Carroll!!!

Aquialini (sp?) was a mahoooosive disappointment
Lol I had actually forgotten about him. That actually says a lot doesn't it. He came highly rated (and injured) and was an expensive flop and also boyhood fan (insert club name) Robbie Keane was another disappointment though was more forced on rafa but I think most of us didn't rate him anyway

As I remember the whole sorry business it was a bit more complicated than that. I for one never saw enough of Keane to know whether he was good enough or not. Essentially he was a victim of the infighting between Rafa and Parry, who (it was said) talked the board into spending money on Keane that Rafa wanted to use elsewhere, so Keane never really got a fair go.

Keane was alright or us. He just never got a decent spell to try and make a partnership with Torres.
