cecil is clearly in charge of in's and outs and he is not a football man , so whose plan is he following???

Why is he selling and buying who he is???

RH has said he has no say, so I was wondering what you all think...

I know what I think, but I'm trying to start dicussion not an argument....

I think Hodgson has a bigger say than he is letting on and is simply deflecting the questions away so he can get on with his job with as little bother as possible.

However, it seems pretty clear that there actually was a plan in place ahead of Roy's appointment, seeing as how we've gotten off to a much quicker start with our transfer business than at any other time over the past few seasons. As to who is pulling the strings, I'd like to think it's some combination of Kenny and other respected club members as filtered through Purslow. Maybe Purslow has a Magic 8-Ball. Dunno.

I expect the lunatic fringe will be along soon to prove us all wrong and give us the doom and gloom scare stories but to me it looks like there are a number of people involved in the decision making. Ultimately the Board make the final call after a consensus is reached but anyone who thinks Hodgson, Dalglish, Macia etc aren't at all involved are deluding themselves.

So far ive been really happy with Purslow's work. He was brought in to find new investment, he found someone willing to offer 100mil but the owners rejected it. He now has bought in players like Jova, Cole, Wilson and Shelvey aswell as Raheem. As well as trying to flog deadwood like Insua, Plessis, Lucas etc. Whoever it is pulling the strings, or if its purslow by himself (which i doubt, i think kenny, macia and hodgson all have input aswell) need to be congratulated as they are doing an awesome job at the moment 🙂

I personally think Rafa had outlined his transfer plans before he left, and Purslow is just following it...

Just my personal opinion...

That's probably the least likely scenario in my opinion.

I doubt Purslow is choosing anyone, he'll recieve instructions and simply negotiate finances.

Innit?

Well anything to undermine Hodgson and feed your discontent. It must really gall you to see things going so swimmingly, it has to be someone else's good work, God forbid should a manager take over and do things without any fuss.

How?

1. Purslow and Rafa didn't see eye to eye.

2. Why would you follow the plans of a manager you've just sacked?

3. Given that Macia and co. are still here, it'd make more sense that they have a greater say in transfers than the since departed Rafa... particularly given what we've heard about targets like Remy who Macia has been following for years.

Here we go again, a load of unsubstantiated mumbo jumbo is starting to become fact in some peoples minds.

And was identified by kenny, as was widely reported at the time.

Maybe Purslow is just using his common sense. He's a fan, and an intelligent man. 'Sell the players with very little talent who don't contribute much, and put all the money towards financing moves for highly regarded youngsters and the odd proven star' is hardly rocket science, is it?

No doubt Purslow would have been blamed if the transfer strategy was rubbish, so why not give him most of the credit when it's good?

Ha Ha - I like you Crump, great sense of humour.

Hodgson is able to identify weaknesses in the squad on the strength of the knowledge provided by Sammy Lee, Dalglish and Macia. Looking at the Wilson transfer indicates that Kenny has been working frantically behind the scenes. Has he been appointed Director of Football by Roy with an announcement to follow?

Sammy Lee and the hapless Macia were there - and helping to fuck things up - for the last 5 years when it comes to player recruitment

*Especially* that fucking Macia bellend, how the fuck was he not sacked?
