June isn't over and

If we add Clyne, which it looks likely we will do...

Then we've got 3 players in Milner, Firmino, and Clyne that walk into the side every week and improve us straight away. These are none of your Luis Alberto's, these are players that make us better from day one.

That's swell.
Given that Sturridge missed most of last season you can add Ings to that list. All four make us player-for-player better than last season.

I've worked for big American companies and they're quite methodical in how they go about things. It's all about thought out progress and putting the right people in place.

This window will be really interesting to see if FSG have learnt about the 'soccer' world and can apply their model to that. We may not get it 100% right but so far it's progress on last year and they might just be getting it with these quick deals.

Like Ryan said, 3 players who can walk into the team and improve it- when was the last time that happened? Beardsley, Barnes and houghton?

I'm optimistic.

A lot of the same stuff was said last summer too.

Hopefully we don't try and play all the new signings at once again.

Yes that's my only worry...the parts are better but the sum is going to take time to settle and that's a commodity the club...and Rodgers in particular...doesn't have.

Is it me or has Rodgers been exceptionally quiet regarding the signings? Is he still on holiday?

So what if he has been quiet? Let's get the business done and then hear from him. I suspect he'll be much more vocal from the official opening of the transfer window and ahead of the summer tour matches.

Hopefully that'll be offset by us having all of our signings (which is looking very likely) sorted out before preseason starts, them having two months to training and play together will be massive for helping everyone settle.

He is on holiday yes, I'm surprised no one has cheekily suggested that the reason we're moving so fast in the transfer market this season is because Rodgers doesn't hasn't had the chance to go and touch everyone's face.

I can just imagine Rodgers leaving over from his hotel bed, hungover & drowsy
"We've signed who? Firm-een-he-o you say? Brazilian? Hmm, interesting. Send me a picture of his face, is it strokable?"

Rodgers grew up surrounded by sheep in the glens of Antrim, all human faces are strokeable.

With the exception of Phil Jones, obviously.

That would help explain it. Although sheep can't say no. So they do have their advantages.

Reminds me of the Arafat/Clinton joke after the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke

Yasser, "You're having trouble again with the ladies?"
Bill, "I keep on getting into trouble because these stories always leak."
Yasser, "You know Bill, there is a solution"
Bill, "Go on!"
Yasser, "Sheep don't tell"

This^

Apart from conducting our business early, there's the same hallmark of a lot of players coming in and a lot of team gelling to do.

We could sign Messi and Ronaldo but we'd still have Teeth playing them as full backs. It's like giving Noddy the keys to a formula 1 car just because he can amble around Toyland without hitting a tree.

Apparently, according to my brother (who knows shit), this is all to do with fsg and their apparent attempt to replace Rodgers with de boer. It is thought Rodgers will be replaced by the end of June. My brother believes the lack of jibber jabba from Rodgers supports this belief.

he is freakishly quiet, it must be killing him

Your brother's an idiot.

We've signed Milner, Ings, Bogdan, Joe Gomez and Firmino.

That's some swift, decisive business being done.

And it should be acknowledged
Indeed...

A better goaly than what we've already got, and two possibly very useful strikers... And now Clyne also... I have to say I'm impressed.

Wasn't having a go. Just read it and thought it wasn't your type of post.

I don't know enough about the original poster to have an opinion on whether he's got stuff right or wrong before.
No problem chief. It was tongue in cheek which doesn't always come over so well on the interclacker. It was the bit about the brother thinking Rodgers' silence proved he was on the way out by the end of June that made me chuckle.

Apparently, according to de Boer's brother (who probably knows a bit), he is staying at Ajax for at least the next year and has told his agent not to contact him if there are any offers.

I still can't get my head around the fact we signed Milner on a free - I mean that's fucking bonkers!

Delighted to see use of this superb colloquialism (Changed it slightly to the correct and proper phrase) 😉
