Raheem Sterling is in line for a new Liverpool contract that will cement his status as one of Europe's top young players.
Talks over fresh terms are set to commence after the World Cup, with the deal likely to see the teenage sensation net a significant pay rise from his current £35,000-per-week contract.

New deal: Raheem Sterling (right) is set to be offered a five-year £100,000 a week deal at Liverpool

Liverpool know a successful World Cup will see Sterling's profile sky-rocket and could lead to interest from rival clubs.
And steps are being taken to ward off potential interest by offering the 19-year-old a new five-year deal, worth up to £100,000-per-week - putting him among the best paid players at Anfield.
Sterling was at the forefront of Liverpool's title challenge last season, his sensational form helping him break into Roy Hodgson's plans for Brazil 2014.
The youngster is being tipped to become one of England's star men in South America - and he is now set to be rewarded by Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.

Nah, it's not too soon.

He's a young lad, who hasn't always made the best choices, if he is on 35k a week it makes him an easy target for the likes of city & Chelsea to try to turn his head.

I keep saying this, but this lad will be the most valuable player in the league within two seasons. He's truly remarkable.

Speculation at best. I can't see us pretty much tripling his wages even if he does star.

He does deserve a raise but that would be ridiculous, Man Utd type shit. He needs us and Rodgers for his development as much as we need him, and as he seemingly (lately) has a good head on his shoulders, I'm sure he knows it.

But almost tripping his wages on the back of one solid premier league campaign and a World Cup is a bit premature. The time to give him a new deal is surely nxt summer once we've seen how he does in the league along with the champions league and even if he tears it up, double his present deal. Seems stupid to throw money away, personally I don't think his head will get turned by the Chavs or City, he seems to be really grateful for the chance under Rodgers and the managers belief in him.

Throw in a release clause of 50 million and get it signed. Good idea.

Exactly. We really need to get on the release clause wagon. Suarez is the only one we've done it on that I'm aware of. Although, naturally, it's never in the news until it's activated.

Maybe Aspas has a 50m get out clause.

100k /week is ridiculous but we're probably not far off that being the rate for a starting player in a top 4/5 team .

i wouldn't be against bumping him up a bit but it should done is slower stages ,we need more performance based contracts in the game .

jaysus imagine earning 100k a week , life would be fun .

I didn't read the thread or article but I'm presuming mystic thinks it's all too soon. For what ?

Giving Sterling a 100k contract if he has a successful World Cup, to keep Chelsea/City away. He's currently on 35k, signed in December.

Probably shite started by his agent.
