Joe Cole

Well, I would have been alot more made up if we had signed Joe two seasons ago instead of Robbie Keane.

At the time I think that Joe would have fitted in perfectly into the style of play and formation that we were playing then.
After a couple of indifferent seasons his signing doesn't quite carry the wow factor but he still is, in my book anyhow, a step up from Yossi, even if it isn't a particularly huge one.

He seems to be liked by Gerrard as well so perhaps that will be a good thing for dressing room morale.

I think we might end up with a player plus cash deal for mascher then if the valuations are too far apart. Can't see Cambiasso coming here mainly cos I don't see him leaving warmer climates.

I think all credit to Cole as well for taking the harder option of moving away from London too, which a few , including myself thought would be the blocker, good lad

regards

Not concerning Joe Cole, he did write a long story about himself buying swimming shorts though. It was the most amazing read

Chelsea would never have sold him to a rival, he was only getting out of there on a free

Absolultly made up!!! 8) As Vlad said - well done for taking the harder option. Just to make you giggle - if you type redcafe into google it shows that they have an entire thread called 'Joe Cole to United'  Er...... Think again scummers!

I was only referring to one, Cecil the manager.

ahhh, gotcha.

Do you reckon Purslow is a tracksuit manager or will he survey it all using a periscope from his dungeon of porn at Melwood?

Talking of which, Charlotte Jackson on SSN is a Red and is sporting a particularly low-cut dress this p.m.

This really is turning out to be a transfer that refreshes the parts other transfers cannot reach. 8)

Remember when the yanks told rafa to concentrate on coaching his team, and he wore a tracky for the next game. I thought that was priceless.

Happy with that signing.

I especially like how we're assuming that he came after hearing that Stevie was staying.

As opposed to being guaranteed Stevie's position.

Yay for optimism.

-----------------------Reina--------------------
Johnson------Agger------------Carra----Figueroa
------------------------------------------------
-------------------Mascherano------------------
----------Gerrard---------------Aquilani---------
Cole----------------------------------------Kuyt
--------------------Torres----------------------

Bn-Cavalieri, Skrtel, The Greek, Shelvey, Jovanovic, Maxi, Lucas.

Thats fucking all right that is.
*opens old wooden chest and shakes wizards robes clean*

Just modified your formation slightly with Kuyt playing on the left hand side as he did for Holland. Right side of Cole plus Johnson with Gerrard will rip teams apart.

This window has so far been excellent. Little spent, some real attacking quality in, and some dross out or on the way out. All we need is a big signing from the Mascher money and a decent left back, and Roy may have had one of our best transfer windows in quite some time.

Roy said today that he needs to replace Insua and Aurelio - I took that to mean he'll be buying two left backs.

One established and one for the future?

So we've banked 11m for Casper and Insua

I suppose that covers off the first three years of Cole's contract

Will we actually be paying any transfer fees for any players?

Mavinga is highly rated and should be the players groomed for the future.

He is doing well in the U19 tournament.

So i'm expecting Mascher to leave and for us to line up as

Reina

Johnson Carra Agger NewLB

Gerrard Aquilani

Kuyt Cole Maxi

Torres

Perhaps, but it is worth pointing out that, despite signing about 27 wide players in six years for a combined cost of over £60m (I'm guessing), Rafa never bought ANYONE of Cole's quality. Hodgson/Purslow/Satan/whoever has now made ONE signing, for £0.00 in transfer fees, and got a multiple league-winning England international at the peak of his career.

Time will tell if Joe will be a sucess at Liverpool, but for me that's definitely progress.

[/quote]

We have no idea whether this is the peak of Joe Cole's career. His best years may well be behind him.

Also, as I recall, Rafa started pretty well. Including buying a very dynamic, productive wide player. This is a hell of a start:

I think everyone is fooling themselves if they think we'll move forward significantly this summer. We don't have the money to do so. The crucial thing is how we'll replace Mascherano. A poor decision there and Cole, Torres, Gerrard and whoever else we buy, will not be seeing much of the ball.

Also, Cole says he wants to play centrally. Isn't that where Gerrard and Aquilani operate? I'm very intrigued to see how we set up.

We'd get raped playing that. Cole won't tackle, Aquilani won't tackle, Gerrard isn't anywhere near the destructive player he used to be. We'd be unbelievably soft through the middle.

I don't get it, that formation wouldn't have helped last year if you put Yossi in Cole's place, so why would it work now. We had trouble gaining the oppositions half, and we were suspect defensively. We need to address that balance.

Agreed. We cannot Fuck up on getting a good DM and good LB.

We can even carry a weakness on the LW through to the Jan transfer window.
