Joe Cole

I was put off by Cole's reported wage demands however I'm pleased that he's our player now that he's signed.

I wonder if the forum's pond life still think Roy is a lame duck (pardon the pun) manager? I think he knows exactly how to handle the media and will not give anything away if it could have an adverse effect on his plans.

why did you merge into this car crash of a thread 🙁
Erm ...... who was driving the thread when it went over the edge of the cliff?

;D

A statement on the official that ian cotton himself would be proud of.

Anyways, hope they don't give him #7. Should have given jovanovic #14 and cole #10. Important stuff, obviously.

Great Signing. I am also fairly confident he would not be coming here, if Gerrard and Torres were leaving. So double whoop.

Its obviously another move by Purslow to single handedly take the club down from the inside 😉

Great job whoever sealed the deal!!

I wonder if Cole would have signed had Rafa still been here. I'd imagine he'd be more likely to believe Hodgson that he an integral part of the team. He also might believe that he might have a touch more attacking freedom under Hodgson than Rafa.

Yeah, what's the ugly sod saying now?

(Monday trivia: I went out with a colleague of his sister once or twice. Appaz.the sister's very nice.)

That tells us a lot. He's a twat anyway.

Debating whether Cole would have signed for Benitez is pointless and unworthwhile.

It's also worth pointing out that Joe was always respectful of Liverpool even when Benitez was here.

That is a very pleasing signing, if we could get bridge and swp also it would considerably boost us.... good bit of business that considering two CL clubs were in for him.

Well done Purslow.

Lets hope the fucker isnt super crocked!!

Sky saying he'll wear the number 7

That should put to bed the Kewell comparisons then.

Kuyt should get 7.

Bridge has been pretty awful for City. Not sure he would be a good signing he if comes in as first choice.

Perhaps, but it is worth pointing out that, despite signing about 27 wide players in six years for a combined cost of over £60m (I'm guessing), Rafa never bought ANYONE of Cole's quality. Hodgson/Purslow/Satan/whoever has now made ONE signing, for £0.00 in transfer fees, and got a multiple league-winning England international at the peak of his career.

Time will tell if Joe will be a sucess at Liverpool, but for me that's definitely progress.

I'd agree with that. He'd be decent back-up though, I suppose. Would rather have SWP, of the two, and would rather have Bellers than either of them.

Cant say I paid much attention to him at City Keni but would he be better than the outgoing Insua. ? Wonder what other LB options are out there?

I imagine they'll be a hefty £3-4M signing on fee, but yeah, decent point.

I was never expecting this to happen, while hoping that it would. Very pleasant surprise.

My tempting fate seems to have worked with this. We SURELY won't get new owners now, though. Certainly not filthy rich ones. Never.

Why have we 'signed' him before he's had a medical?
You need to step on a land mine to fail a Liverpool medical
