Why have we 'signed' him before he's had a medical?
It's Purslow's idea and Hodgson's just gone along with it. He hasn't a clue.

Good signing but he's too old for me to get excited.

Yeah, but that's more of a sexual thing. I'm talking football here.

To all those calling him a 'crock' and making Kewell comparisons - over the last 11 seasons since he broke through with West Ham, he's averaged 37.72 games a season (in all comps..)

Not too shabby.

Minus Masher, probably..
YOU DONT KNOW THAT!! *slaps face*

Yeah Mascher will probably go. That takes away a lot of the solidity in the midfield, unfortunately. It's a shame the little rat is being a bit of a twat, because he's a good player and he was very likeable once upon a time. Oh well.

Of course he could go. But getting Cole and Jovanovic on free's has all but sorted out the options of the front 6.
Meaning Insua, Riera and Mashcerano going = 40m Even if we only spend 20 - 30m thats a good left back and a top DM. We have basically just one position to buy for now, LB with the potential to have to get a DM if Mascherano does go.

If barca get Cesc then there is a good chance mascher will stay due to a lack of options and leave next summer for a knock down fee.

We could probably do with a striker too... Though Jovanovic will provide cover, no one really knows what level he is. We need someone who could come in for long periods in the absence of Torres and provide the difference.

It's Inter that want him.

I thought they decided he's too expensive.

I would like another Striker and a CM if Masher stays and two if he leaves. Lucas should be pushed one position down in the ladder. He was playing a pivotal role in the first team last season, inspite of falling woefully short of the level required. I still don't see how we have fixed that problem - unless we have decided on playing Gerrard deeper (which i would not mind at all).

He is quoted as saying wanting to play a more central role. That could mean either gerrard or aqua's position! so what gives?
So does this also probably mean Gerrards deffo staying?
This is what I'm taking from the signing. The positive is as much in the message. I hope that turns out to be the case. Rumours of our demise have been exaggerated once again, etc.

Well, I suppose it's good news in that he's better than what we have. Plus he's on a free transfer, so that is another obvious plus.

But I don't know really know if I'm that excited. Cole has had (admittedly short) bursts when he's looked a great, great player for Chelsea. And then (usually due to injury) he then struggles to reassert himself in the team.

I hope the reality of Joe Cole at Liverpool is better than the idea.

Didnt Gerrard compare Cole to Messi pre world cup? Guess he must be happy with the signing if he feels that way.

Add to that Maxi and Shelvey for minimum outlay. There has been some boss squad enhancement on the attacking front in the last 6 months. Still need a good backup striker though.

Made up, we've been crying out for a tricky creative player & we finally have him.

Inter can fuck off, an Italian journo said yesterday that the 20m euro we want is way too high.

20 million euro?! Get to fuck, 35 million minimum you cunts.

I have a vivid memory of Joe Cole from the England v Uruguay friendly at Anfield in 2006. Cole came on from the bench and immediately went on a tremendously powerful run. He later put in the cross for Crouch to score England's first goal, and then scored the second himself with a sharp volley. I went away from that game very impressed with Joe Cole.

I have just been listening to Talk Cunts, there are a couple of Chelsea supporters on there. One is clearly sick as a parrot about the idea of swapping Yossi and £5m for Cole and going on about not the player he used to be.
The other is a bit more open pointing out that the stage of the season he his last injury came was at a really crucial time, and that under a "put your arm around the boy" type manager, in Avram Grant he was Chelsea's player of the season a few years ago, and thinks we have got a cracking deal out of it, and if played right and managed right could prove to be one of the best bargains ever.
Whatever way you look at it it's a great bit of business
The one area of concern is if he can settle OK outside London, I hope he could be pleasantly surprised by Liverpool the City too, he seems quite a normal level headed lad.

regards
