He should get games, and if he doesn't start against Utrecht Roy needs his head examined.

We're linked with N'Zogbia, M'Vila and Benzema today. All players I want and hopefully we'll get at least 2 of them. Fingers crossed.

*Coughs, splutters, collapses in a heap* ......... do we have a spare £40M to spend on 2 players in January ?
[/quote]

Heh, sums today is quoted at 9 mill for M'Vila and 12 mill for Benzema. That is affordable.

12M for Benzema !!!! Not a chance (think they are going to take a 20M loss after one season ?) ...... if it is anything even close to that we should bite their whole fucking arm off !

Yeah, it was really low. But I highely doubt they'll get anything more than 16-18 mill for him. Thats a no brainer if you ask me.

I agree. Especially if it's Euros.

Hazard, Adam and Cahill. Probably.

I'd happily settle for that.

Add in Benzema on loan with an option to buy.

Why doesn't Roy Hodgson tweet?

Because he's a tight fisted cunt.

Hodgson tweeting.
Very good Paddy.

It's amazing which expectations people every year have when the January window approaches.

Which were the biggest signings we made in January in the last seasons?

Skrtel I believe, but who else?

Lille's Eden Hazard a possible January target for Liverpool FC

LIVERPOOL boss Roy Hodgson watched Eden Hazard fire Lille to the top of the French League on Sunday night, just weeks after Kenny Dalglish checked out the same player.

And Hodgson’s latest spying mission with the Reds’ French scout, Laurent Viaud, has fuelled speculation that Liverpool could be planning a January swoop for the highly rated 19-year-old.

The Belgian international has attracted interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, and could cost as much as £18 million.

However, Liverpool believe they can tempt the midfielder with the lure of regular first team football.

Kenny Dalglish watched Hazard when Lille played Levski Sofia in the Europa League recently – after the youngster first impressed Anfield coaches when the two sides met in last season’s Europa League.

Liverpool’s But only last month boss Hodgson said: “We are going to be very interested in trying to improve our squad in January. There is no question about that. I am sure we will sign players.â€

And Hazard’s age fits into the Americans’ transfer strategy of buying bright up and coming youngsters.

“We have to be more efficient,†said JW Henry. “When we spend a dollar it has to be wisely. We cannot afford player contracts that do not make long-term sense.â€

Also in action at the Stade Lille-Metropole on Sunday night was Ivory Coast international Gervinho, who has made an impressive start to the season.

When Hodgson was asked after the match if he was following Gervinho, he replied that the Ivorian was not the only good player on the field.

Hazard became the youngest goalscorer in Lille’s history in 2008 and went on to make 36 appearances and score six goals, becoming the first foreign player to win the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year Award.

Spanish youngster Suso, meanwhile, has signed his first professional contract at Anfield keeping him at the club until 2013.

The 17-year-old can play up front or in midfield and featured in the pre-season friendly against Borussia Moenchangladbach.

Liverpool have been drawn against Notts County in the third round of the FA Youth Cup. The tie will be played at Meadow Lane on Tuesday, December 7 (7pm kick-off).

Liverpool switch transfer targets in Premier League defender hunt
Hodgson wants to bring another centre-back to Anfield
by Mark Lightbourne on 24 November 2010

A new stopper is wanted at Anfield

Liverpool have turned their attentions to a former transfer target after being dissuaded from bidding for their number one choice.

The Reds were keen on signing Gary Cahill with the Bolton man continuing to impress at the Reebok Stadium and were lining up a bid for the player in January. However, with Chelsea suffering defensive woes and both Tottenham and Arsenal looking to shore up their back line, the player's price tag has risen accordingly and convinced Roy Hodgson to look elsewhere.

It means Liverpool will once again turn their attention to Ryan Shawcross who was wanted at Anfield by Hodgson's predecessor Rafael Benitez. The Stoke stopper has been a consistent figure in the Potters' central defence and is seen as a potential heir to the ageing Jamie Carragher.

At just 23-years-old he has the maturity of a player many years his senior and could be available for around £10m. Stoke will not want to let one of their key performers go but are unlikely to stand in the player's way if he decides that he wants to join a club of the stature of Liverpool and compete in European competition.

One potential sticking point for Liverpool fans is his past affiliation to Manchester United with whom he spent part of his footballing education though he left Old Trafford before making a first team appearance.

We won't spend big. I'd maybe take a few gambles on lower players. That Jennings for Tranmere looked a good little player, he wouldn't cost anything and if he's shit sell him to a championship side for a slight loss or even a little profit. There must be a few French kids we can get in cheap the new guy can identify.

If we splash out on a player I'd be very happy with Benzema, Hazard, Mata, Banega, Defour, Young.

Of corse Roy will probably sign Carlton Cole, Simon Davies and our march into obscurity will continue unabaided.

I don't think there's a chance that Hammill will return. We haven't heard anything concrete regarding him.
Gary Cahill is a possibility and a I'm a big fan of his.
Eden Hazard is a tremendous prospect but every team in Europe knows this and I can't see why he'd join us, unless he's a fan.

We'll probably end up with Simon Davis and Andy Johnson.

HA, I laugh at your petty reply.
Seriously, seing Benzema choosing Real instead of Man U, Affelay choosing Barca instead of any other team in Europe really makes me doubt that he'd ever join us.
We should buy Nzogbia.

You can laugh all you want.

Benzema and Afellay are/were much more finished articles when they moved. If anything Benzema's example should be a warning to the likes of Hazard that going to the biggest teams too early might not be that good a career move. Hazard is in a critical stage of his development and he definitely needs games to progress.

I don't know if he'd choose us over some of the big ones but I don't think we are without a chance either.

Yeah and there's no pressure at all on Hazard. He's just joining a team that hasn't won the league for 20 years.

In 9 years, Cole has scored 39 league goals. In 197 appearances. He is not what we need and if we buy him for double figures, or even singles figures for that matter I will punch someone.

No one is expecting Liverpool to challenge for the title in at least a couple of seasons so no there is not as much pressure as somewhere else perhaps.

There are so many exciting strikers in Europe we could go for in Jan, sadly we haven't been linked with any of them.

we've been linked with lukaku and and connor wickham, both very young, admittedly, but about as exciting as they come. i'd take either of them over adebayor, who's a good player but imo both overrated and a total prick: we'd probably hae to sell him on in a year anyway.

I mean if we're in a transitional period, shouldn't we be fielding our talented youngsters, so they can get some experience. My point is that there's constant pressure to perform at this club. If Pacheco plays and has one bad game he's immediately sent to the reserves. Our backup players aren't getting nurtured enough.
Sure, we protect them, by not playing them that's why we haven't produced any decent talent since Gerrard.
Basically a team that is confident enough and has won the league recently would be able to take chances. Man U are currently playing Gibson, Rafael, Fabio etc. They're not suffering under the burden of not having won the league since 1990.

So you think if we sign Hazard for say £15m Roy is going to stick him into reserves? Besides this vision of challenging for the title includes a change of manager.

I don't agree that we are not fielding our youngsters anyway. Kelly has been played quite a lot this season and I'm sure Patcheco will get his chance(if things are ok with him and Roy.)

Juve have already bought Krasic, and can only buy one non EU player pr season. Adebayor has no chance of moving there in january.
