This is the central spine of our strongest XI: Allison – Virgil – Gomez / Matip – Fabinho – Hendo – Thiago – Jota.

These are the amount of league games that same spine of our team missed out on this season through injury: 5 – 33 – 31 / 28 – 8 – 17 – 14 – 19.

Now, also consider that when they did play, Fabinho and Hendo spent much of the season playing CB and not MF, so the games that each of their normal positions lost it's best player this season is actually more than the numbers above.

Next, factor in that VAR disallowed 7 of our goals this season after they’d initially been given (most in the league).

Then factor in that VAR awarded 3 penalties against us this season. And awarded us none. Not V Newcastle, not V Southampton (either time), not V chav$ki.

Finally, factor in that one referee even ended the first half early when we were clean through, untouched, to take the lead against a fellow top-four contender.

Read all of that again.

We finished 3rd.

I will take to my grave that if we'd been at full strength this season, we'd have pissed this title too.

And I'm very, very optimistic for next season already.

We're still a fucking brilliant team. We'll be back.

That Hendo and Fabinho spent so much time at CB is for the most part Klopps fault. It took him until March to realise that playing your best midfielders in defence leaves you with an average defence and a weak midfield.

Of course we’re still a brilliant team. I’ve been saying all season that it’s knee jerk that so many people want the squad rebuilt. It doesn’t need as much as that.
We’ve had absolutely disastrous issues with injuries that would have derailed any team. City won the league on 86 points. Had we not had as bad luck with massive injuries to absolutely crucial players for so long, we’d have won the league. IMHO

I don't understand why so many feel this way... Do you not think that JK knew he was weakening his MF by doing this, and wouldn't have done it, had he not felt it absolutely necessary? Don't you think that he knew when his 5th and 6th choice CBs could and couldn't be risked back there..? Just because they ended the season playing well doesn't mean that NP and RW were ready to do so back when our CBs first all died. JK watched them in training... He obviously didn't think them ready. And, at this stage, I'll trust his judgement on it.

OF course not. Most posters on here are far better tacticians than Jurgen and have as much, if not more, insight as he has as to how the players are performing on the training ground. It was obviously just a catastrophic mistake by the pig headed german

If anyone cheated us, it was our owners.

We had a title-winning first third of the season and a title-winning run in the final third.

If we had got the January transfer window right (and early), whilst we were leading the PL, we'd have had a great chance of retaining the title.

It’s exactly the right word, and it’s a well known turn of phrase, ya spazz
Who the fuck cheated us? Our players got injured (whom many were already injury prone) and we were woefully underprepared for it.

Cheated my arse.

Cheated by fate, cheated by circumstance, cheated by VAR and officiating incompetence.

I'm not suggesting that the league and the officials sat down in August and said "Let's fuck Liverpool this year", FFS... It's just a turn of phrase, based on how every single thing that could have gone wrong for us this season, did.

Unlucky, ill prepared, not cheated.

This season was crazy, had a bit of everything, all sorts of ups and downs, ending with Dreamy trying to give a lesson to another human being about the correct meaning of a word. It won’t be repeated.
