Rodgers says Johnson back in the squad. Lucas training but not ready yet, Sakho another week out.

Enrique in US seeing specialist about knee

Its a pity Enrique would not be playing again this season…with him in the team the attacking flow would be brilliant!

Having said that, its a good opportunity for Cissokho to improve at left back.

He'll have to have one hell of an improvement from the calamity he is at the moment to get to the level we require of him. He's already had a fair few games so can't see it happening.

Johnson will be straight in at right back with Flanagan moving over to the left, Cissokhos time is up.

Damn shame about Enrique.

Wrong. Flanagan at right back and Cissokho will remain at left back. Johnson will take some time to have his first start after coming back from injury.

Ok, if Johnson is a sub tommorow then next game he will be starting and Flanno will be on the left, Alys time in the team will be over very soon.

Renowned knee specialist. If it can be sorted, he's the guy to do so apparently.

At least with Johnson back, it gives us another option on the left.

Steadman has announced his retirement though not sure effective when; he'll still be helping to do some consulting though.

I want Johnson to stay, says Rodgers

Glen Johnson can win a new Liverpool contract if he impresses with his performances over the final three months of the season, according to manager Brendan Rodgers.

The England right-back's current deal has 16 months to run, but he said in an interview earlier this month that he had heard nothing from the club about extending it.

Johnson, signed for 17.5 million pounds from Portsmouth in 2009, has indicated that he wants to stay at Anfield, and Rodgers has made clear that he would like to keep him.

However, the 29-year-old defender would have to take a cut in his reported 110,000 pounds a week salary in order to get a new deal.

Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool's Boston-based owners, have previously been unwilling to increase the salaries of players once they pass their 30th birthday, and Johnson will be two months short of turning 31 when his contract expires in June 2015.

But Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo: "Glen is a player we want to keep.

"In terms of his contract, I am sure that is something that will be discussed between now and the end of the season.

"I think Steven Gerrard went down to the last year of his contract last summer before that was sorted.

"I'm sure it's something the owners will take up when the time is right. At this moment in time, I am only really concentrating on the football aspect."

Johnson, who has been out for the last month with ankle and groin problems, is set to return when Liverpool host Swansea in the Premier League on Sunday.

Rodgers, whose own contract at Anfield also expires in June 2015, has indicated that both player and manager are in a similar position.

Asked if he felt Johnson was playing for his Liverpool future, Rodgers said: "I think we all are -- players and the manager.

"We are all fighting to be the best that we can be for the club. You hope then that the club see that they want to keep you and improve you.

"Whether that's Glen, the manager or whoever, we're all fighting to stay here."

Sell him for 8mil. No point keeping average player like him.

Why? There is no point in disrupting the run in now. He'll get a new contract in May, and he's got 15 months left aswell.
No problem at all imho.

Rodgers trying to gee up Johnson the way he tried to gee up Moses in a press conference earlier this year. Hoping Johnson doesn't go the Moses route for our team's sake at the moment.

Rodgers said after the game, Sakho is 7-10 days away from being fit.

He seems to have been 7-10 days away from being fit for about 6 weeks now.

Seems so, but it's a very difficult injury to get back from. If we bring him back too soon he'll pull his hammy again.
From personal experience, you have to manage it carefully by slowly introducing him and doing several tests. Gradually increasing the intensity until he's deemed fit. I bet that he could have played this game, but he would have been subbed after like 30 mins.

BR: Sakho has trained this week, but it’ll probably be too early for him this weekend. Lucas has also returned to training.Enrique still out

BR: Enrique’s issues are ongoing. He’s rehabilitating well here now after America. There’s no timeline, just trust in the medical team.
