If you have the sort of money Sturridge does the Syndey would be the place to live.

For a normal person Syndey is becoming unliveable and Melbourne not to far behind it. I've lived in Sydney for 12 years and it's where my life is, but if I were moving to Australia now I think Perth or Brisbane would be better options.

Hobart is beautiful but same problem as Perth.
 
Hobart is a lovely city, but it doesn't have the weather or the high paying jobs that Perth has. Most people that emigrate from UK/Ireland do so for a different lifestyle, Tassie doesn't really offer that, but it is very affordable and I know people who moved there after several years in Sydney that love it.

It really is about what you want - not sure nightlife is necessarily on everyone’s list, like you said, moving to Tassie would be for other reasons.

Perth’s remoteness is part of its appeal, I think.
