How many goals do you think Raheem will score in all competition this season? He had 10 goals in 34 appearances last season.

I reckon we will need at least 20 from Sterling this year to challenge for top 4 in the league and make any kind of impression in the Champions League.

I think 15 would be a realistic minimum target for him. He'll maybe have a chance of a hattrick or two, but otherwise if he chips in with a goal every now and again along with plenty of assists then I think that would be acceptable.

Somewhere between 15-20 in all comps would be immense but if he contributes to our overall attacking play by being a menace and taking multiple defenders out of the game like Luis used to do then that is also ideal.

My bet is he'll score a few more than last season. I worry we're setting ourselves up for a massive fall with Raheem, he's still a kid.

I think if he plays where he did last season, either out wide or in the AM spot, then 10 to 15 is the most realistic number, which would put him on the same level as Hazard. If he's used as a central striker partner for Sturridge at times, or as his replacement when Sturridge isn't available, then he'll have a good chance to score more than that.

Anything more than 15 and he's shooting at Ronaldo's and Bale's progress scale. I think his finishing is still not there yet though he's rapidly improving. One way he can score more, is to work on adding direct free kicks to his arsenal. A good way to add cheap goals to pad stats.

Due to the increased number of games we've got and games he'll get, I'd have thought the 10-15 mark would be fair. Giving him an average of 1in3 or 1in4 or something.

Here's some thought I put down a while back in the Sanchez thread, when it looked like we had a chance to get him, regarding what I thought Sterling would probably end up with.

Back then, I'd expected / targeted for Sterling + Borini + Lambert to contribute 20 goals between them with Sanchez (as a wide forward) in the team.

I've marked down Sanchez's and Sterling's numbers because past records show that the top players who played wide or alternated between playing wide and as an AM / second striker tended to score between 10 to 16 goals a season in the league. Only Ronaldo and Bale scored 18 or more when alternating between playing wide and as a second central striker. The rest? Pires had 14 goals in 3 straight seasons, Hazard (14), Mata (12), Cazorla (11), Ljungberg (10 and 12), Gerrard (11 and 16), Overmars (12), Van der Vaart (11 and 13). Giggs and Robben never even hit double figures. Silva hasn't, and Nasri has just 10 to his name as his best goals output.

Of course, past record isn't necessarily a predictor of the future, but I thought it might offer some reference for consideration.

I'm hoping for 10 league goals. I think - although he's a phenomenal talent - it's a big jump from being on a Suarez led team to being amongst the leaders on attack now.

I know I'm lowering expectations, but I think if he gets 10 goals and 10 asissts, and we get similar contributions from Henderson, Gerrard, Markovic and Ibe/Coutinho etc, we will be in great shape.

There's a lot of competition for places now across that front line and a lot of games to play so Raheem may not get as consistent a run as he did last year. Add to the fact that he may not find space quite so easily without Suarez pulling wide.

I'm not sure how many he'll score but I'd like to see him actively involved in around 20 goals (goals + assists) for the season in all competitions.

I think we are in danger of expecting too much from him.

I am a huge fan and have been for a while but all this talk of him replacing Suarez and scoring god knows how many seems excessive.

10-15 would be a very good return, particularly given the fact that the attack will change quite a lot.

Yeah, I think 10 would be pretty reasonable, 15 would see him continue on an upwards trajectory that has him, rightly being considered, one of the best young players around.

He's starting to get that bit of arrogance now, in a good way, where he commands the play a bit more and has confidence in what he's going to do, some of his first touches to get himself a yard of space on a defender have been a joy to watch and no doubt stem, at least partly, from watching and playing alongside Suarez over the last few years.

Just to remind everyone - he scored 13 last season. I'd be pretty disappointed if he didn't score at least 15 this season, maybe more.

Anyone think that Sterling is being earmarked as THE replacement for Suarez, which is why we're invested so heavily in players who can play between the lines and in the attacking mid roles?

Just to remind everyone - he scored 13 last season. I'd be pretty disappointed if he didn't score at least 15 this season, maybe more.

Last season he was playing in a free flowing attacking side with one of the best attacking players in the world.

This season could see us reign things in a bit and there will be a period of adjustment given who we've lost and all the new arrivals.

He's still only 19.

10-15 in the league would be fantastic.

I think we are in for a reality check this season in terms of our attacking play.

I automatically assumed the poll was asking about league goals, hence 10 - 15 was my pick. If it's across all competitions, then yeah, we probably can tag a few more goals to that bracket.
