I would always play a out and out holding midfielder away from home (so my opinion hasn't changed) and at home if an out and out holding midfielder plays I would expect more going forwards.
as for a holding midfielder being the most important person on the team I always thought that alonso was the most important player on the pitch, less so with other holding midfielders but anyone with eyes can see we're fucking shit without one.

I value lucas as a holding midfielder and I'm counting the days to his return but I still think he can contribute going forwards when we are in possession of the ball. anyway his absense has gone a long way to show he is streets ahead of henderson, adam and spearing.
the gaps through the middle of the park with gerrard and adam was nothing short of criminal and if we want to progress in both cup games we need to sort it out even if it means playing agger in front of the back four.
