Michael Owen: Manchester United are biggest club in the world
Oct 7 2009 by Dominic King, Liverpool Echo
MICHAEL OWEN has guaranteed himself a hot reception when he returns to Anfield later this month after claiming Manchester United are “the biggest club in the worldâ€.

The former Liverpool striker was never going to be welcomed back with open arms on October 25 after joining the Reds’ fiercest rivals on a free transfer during the summer.

However, this latest statement means that Owen’s stock has slipped even further now with supporters who once idolised him.

After spells with Real Madrid and Newcastle United, Owen surprised the football world when he ended up at Old Trafford in June.

Owen said: “It’s fantastic working with Sir Alex Ferguson.

“It’s everything you would expect from a top, top team. They are the biggest club in the world, and everything from the kit man to the canteen girls and through to the manager is first class.â€

Either he is one thick cunt or he is actually going to take some perverse pleasure from his reception in a couple of weeks time.

Or he's playing along in ginsoak's mind games.

Or maybe he feels he owes the club paying his wages more than the club who used to, it's the classic new player at a club thing to say..it's amazing, everyone is wonderful, evrything is wonderful its amazing bla bla

I'm really stunned by his attitude these days. Like him or loathe him, I don't think anyone in the past could have claimed that Owen wasn't very good at PR, and he was brought up really well by Heighway and Co, so this ghastly recent performance, when he seems quite eager to insult the club that made him into a top player, is just so gratuitously graceless I can only wish him the very worst for the rest of his career. No ex-player has ever behaved as badly.

This is a slightly different case though. Most players who have moved to a previous clubs biggest rivals have kept their traps shut out of respect

I remember Danny Murphy has a bit of a pop at Rafa after leaving, Pennant more recently had a pop also.

Didn't Henchoz also have a go at the manager after leaving?

Owen didn't take any shots at LFC when he was at Madrid or at Newcastle and has not now, not directly. He probably said similar things about Madrid and Newcastle.

Thats having a pop at individuals at the club, I'm sure they were respectful towards the club as a whole.

Also they werent playing for those cunts at the time.

Lawro?

He's just moved from Newcastle, a club where the canteen girls are probably more professional than the manager, so it's not really surprising he's giddy as a schoolboy.

But yeah, graceless sums him up nicely.

And that is what it boils down to really, I don't think he is the most evil person ever, he is a moron though

That's disingenuous. Owen knows exactly what effect his words will have.

I'm inclined to agree with macca on this one.

He's done absolutely everything in his power to shit all over his past at Liverpool since he joined them. As said, he's traditionally been quite savvy when it comes to public perception, so the odds are that this has been a concious effort on his part.

Lawro?

Lawro has a job to do as a pundit, and he can be infuriating, but I think his recent appearances at the Hillsborough memorial service and the Dalglish match showed he still has respect for the club.

That was my point to start with. He's being a cunt, moron whatever

I never idolised Michael Owen

I used to, until he sped off in his sports car when I was only a young cub freezing my tits off waiting for an autograph.

He was booed at Anfield though.

Maybe he's trying to endear himself to the utd supporters and thinks the best way to do it would be knock us.

I wonder if there's an element of "unrequited love" involved. He's known to have wanted to come back to LFC, and goodness knows how he felt about missing out on Istanbul at the end of the very season in which he left "to win things". Maybe his nose is out of joint because we didn't fall over ourselves to fetch him back.

Either way, Owen can go swivel on barbed wire. Originally, for the sake of what he did while he was at LFC, I was prepared just to ignore him. Now I officially despise the little jerk, and any setback that lot suffer will be all the sweeter to me because he'll be caught up in it.

Fuck you Owen.

You never fooled me you little cunt.

When others wanted you back, even after you shat on us, I could see in those beedy little eyes - that you were nothing but a Scum twat.

I rest my case once and for all.

I've despised the short arsed piece of shite for quite some years now so this doesn't really come as a surprise.

Didnt RVN say something similar when he joined the scum about the tea lady...she must be a nice auld soul. Anyway back to the point....Michael Owen=CUNT

A couple of days ago when he resumed training he commented that a few years ago he would have played on with the injury thus making it worse.

An obvious snide comment that suggested he was treated badly with regard to injuries before arriving at OT.

What an unbelievable traitorous little bastard he is.

I don't know. In my opinion Ferguson is behind these comments to some extent anyway.
