Has Salah changed?

He’s taken his shirt off before, shaved chest and all, and has always been very selfish within 40 metres of goal. Nothing’s changed really.

Selfish is one thing, but trying to beat three or four defenders when surrounded when there is another player standind free..?? Nah!!.. he as change, though I believe it is pressure he is feeling to score more goals

Think the shirt thing was relief at scoring before being subbed

I am Confused...Have I misunderstood have we been talking about Salah changing, and not celebrating X-Mas anymore 🙄

The first time I took any notice of him getting interviewed post match was after Roma away a couple of years ago. He said nothing about his team mates, the club, Klopp, the fans, it was only about himself. When I watched that I was pretty sure he was off as it was clear the only thing that matters to Salah is Salah, but I was wrong.

He hasn't changed, he's always been this way
In short, Modo's cousin is making things up in linking this to a move away.

I think we’ll start replacing the front 3 one by one starting this summer. It would be hard to replace both salah and mane at the same time so I think one will leave this summer and one next summer. We’re going to get good fees for them having had the best years of their careers.
I read one of the more respected journos say around the time that Klopp signed his contract extension, that the plan was to keep the current side together for at least one more season and then set about the rebuild.
That won't necessarily stop a player wanting to leave though I guess

A major factor IMO is the very fact that Mo had such an unbelievable goal tally in his first season. For one thing, maintaining that was always going to be a mammoth task. For another, the effort of doing so has meant that he's started thinking about what he does out there on the pitch, as opposed to just letting the force be with him. Given also the other pressures identified above, I reckon it's to his credit that he's still such a nightmare for opposition defences, and I very definitely think it's waaaaaaay too early to be trying to spot clues to his character and/or future intentions.

I think a couple of other prominent Muslims had the same abuse, Amir Khan was one that I remember.
Getting abuse for integrating and respecting our customs sums up the thinking of some people.

I don't think having a Christmas tree is an 'English custom' ... it's a Christian custom, and it's not done in his religion.
It would be like expecting Raz to keep Ramadan to 'integrate and respect' the customs of where he lives (Not sure which state in the Middle East).
The blow back is expected as that's our world nowadays (though I assume it's always been the case, but social media has just opened it up to everyone)

It's his house his business. You are always going to get twits who like to preach religion.

I hope it's not an English custom, being Welsh myself 😉

Christmas trees have nothing to do with Christianity. Yes we do it as part of Christmas, but it is an ancient custom with pagan roots to bring evergreens into a dwelling place in winter. It is a Northern European custom and has no Christian symbolism attached to it.

So you're saying Jesus didn't have a Christmas tree? There's no place for this dirty heathen revisionism on this forum.
No, and Joseph didn't kiss Mary under the mistletoe either. Not just because she was a bit frigid, but because they didn't do that in the Middle East. Guess what, it is another Northern European pagan custom that is to do with our celebration of mid-winter!

No obviously the Easter Bunny distributing eggs is referenced in John chapter 22 v. 29, "and on the day the Christ did emerge from the tomb, yea the Lord did send a large bunny forth, gifting eggs amongst the children of Israel".

I don't think they would use the word bunny in the bible. I think you're winding me up.

here`s a large bunny.

Had dinner with my cousins who were visiting from Oxford yesterday and of course we end up talking football. My cousin is pretty smart, well traveled and has relatives on his side in Egypt. Oh, and he's a Man U fan.
Don't think you should take too much into what your cousin said about Salah, after all, he couldn't be that smart considering the club he supports.... 🙂

Not entirely accurate. The custom of having trees in people's homes at Christmas is Christian in origin. It began in Germany in the 16th century.

Although, the custom of having Christmas in December is largely due to the Roman pagan festival, which name escapes me now so I'll call it Festivus. It's something to do with Saturn. Saturnus?

Almost - Saturnalia. Up to a point that's true, but Saturnalia was a week-long festival and actually ended on what's now Dec.23rd.

"Ashur tree" as we call it - but it was looked upon as idolatry by Jews and if memory is right, Muslims (hence no such custom with practicing Muslims).

You say we do it 'as part of Chrsitmas' ('Chrsitmas Tree') and then say it has no symbolism attached to it ... But sure it does in today's world, just like Russians (including here in Israel) link it to Novigod (and that causes friction here even though the big municipalities here hand them out to those who want)

Who wouldn’t change when they go from a decent pro to a global star.

The shirt off was just relief. He’s in the gym since hurting his shoulder against Real.

I don’t think it’s an indication he’s leaving but that’s not to say he won’t.

Someone complained about "another" Salah thread 😀

Can we change the title to something to do with Christmas now it`s gone off topic?

Hahahahahahahaha. Boy, am I a picture of relief

I mentioned this on here when we were first linked to signing Salah from Roma.

I noticed the traits in his personality - ego/selfish/individualistic - and that if he had not changed from his time at Chelsea, it would be the only reason he would be a flop at Liverpool.

But thankfully the Salah we signed was a changed man from his Chelsea days. Perhaps a move that came a little too early in his career - made no easier by the fact he was then playing under a high demanding manager in Mourinho.

I guess when he's scoring 40 goals a season its easy to forget about these traits - and when he's struggling for form it's suddenly a front page issue again.

For me there's no real concern.

Salah taking his shirt off was just a release for him having butchered a few chances against United.
