Harry Wilson - stay or go?

When he was a youngster he had the same problem of disappearing in games.

I'm not sure about him tbh. Very talented, technically excellent, but got a long way to go before he can meaningfully contribute at our level imo.

But there's no rush to sell so seems pointless not to give him a chance.

This has "Bournemouth overpay" written all over it. Hopefully.

I'd be fine to promote him to the first team but if we get a really good offer and it helps us spend on a top target, I'm fine with letting him go.

I reckon give him next year at Derby again if they get up, keep him on our books. Looks great anytime I’ve seen him play.

If Lallana is being moved on Id like to see him get a chance in the first team squad. Failing that Id loan him to a Prem team where he will get games, I think we would be foolish to sell at this point. Barring a freak injury there is very little downside to seeing how he matures against premier league standard over the next 12 months.

Hard to say for sure but my gut feeling is he won't make it at LFC. Having said that, he has proved very capable and the going rate for a player like this should be about £25m. IF Derby beat Villa tomorrow they will need to start preparing for life in the EPL straight away and them signing Wilson for that sort of fee makes sense all around.

Also, if Villa lose they are going to find it impossible to hold onto Jack Grealish (the most talented player in the Championship) and so maybe we could offer Wilson and Kent (combined value £40m) for Grealish.

Grealish is a top quality player with the potential to become a world great if he; plays under a top manager, quits getting pissed so often, and gets to play with better players. Given that Maddison at Leicester is probably now valued at over £50m I think Grealish is the better bet and potentially the better player.

If we get about £140m for Lallana (£15m), Wilson (£25m), Kent (£15m), Sturridge (£10m), Clyne (£15m), Ings (£25m), Camacho (£10m), Moreno (?) and Grujic (£25m) and brought in Depay (£35m), Fekir (£50m) and Grealish (£40m) we would be £15m better off and have an attacking midfield/forward squad selection to match Citys.

Aguero Mané
Jesus Fekir
Sané Firmino
Mahrez Depay
Sterling Salah
D. Silva Grealish
B. Silva Brewster
Foden Origi
DeBruyne Keita

Wasn't it Ward that got promoted with Huddersfield and we recalled him to sit on his arse? I don't remember the goalkeeping situation, we probably needed a backup but I hope we don't do the same with Wilson.

The worst thing we can do is recall him then not pay him. Personally I don't see him making it with Liverpool but I haven't seen a lot of him.

I got laughed at for wanting Grealish last season and saying he’ll be in the England team next World Cup.

He’s a superb player wasted at Villa.

Would love us to get him.

Ffs

  • an imaginary straight swap
  • a massive overrating of an English player who has, at 24 years of age, just scored his career-high season tally of 6 goals in the Championship
  • an imaginary sell-to-buy scenario involving 12 players
  • a player-for-player comparison between 2 teams ...
  • ... where the equivalents of David and Bernardo Silva are Jack Grealish and Rhian Brewster
  • and a co-sign from Dreambeliever
All in one post - some feat that

They really would be mean if not illegal!

If we are selling Grujic the Id be looking at Rice or Grealish as a long term successor to Milner

Ok Jan, I get your issues, but Pesam really does know his Championship, and if he says Grealish is the go, then as much as Dreamy's imprimatur makes me think twice, I'm prepared to believe him. That said, we won't buy him.

Arent Sturridge and Moreno out of contract in 4 weeks time? Also I think Ings is effectively sold already for £18m based on the terms of his loan

I thought Grealish was off to Spurs if Villa don't get promoted. Didn't they nearly sign him recently but he wanted to give Villa another year to get promoted?

Just googled it, he was meant to sign for them last summer for 25m when villa were skint, but they got new owners who blocked the move. He was gutted.

They want shitloads for him now
