On the pronunciation of his name - Tim Vickery has been good for this during the WC...

Fred = Fredgy
Hulk = Hulky
Ramires = Hamires

Been the stand out player of the lesser known players.

I backed Columbia pre tournament too but thought they would struggle without Falcao but so far have looked boss.

They will take some beating.

Would love us to get him.

He's hardly lesser known.
A good few were banging the drum long before Monaco signed him.

What we want to do is hire porto's scouts, that's the future.

It's down to work permits and red tape with these young South American players, its not just Porto its all the big Portuguese teams that get these big talents.

When do any of the big clubs over here ever have a young South American come through their academy?

He's wasted at Monaco. Ligue 1 is a load of balls and whilst I'm sure it's great living it up in Monaco, it's a shit season besides any Champions League.

Brilliant yesterday. Had never seen him play but absolutely took the piss. Out of our price range but if Luis were to go, spunk the load on this fucker.

I would have liked quintero when he was at pescara. He was inconsistent, but the talent was there

He performed extremely well at last years under 20 world cup in Turkey.

Porto just take the piss with their scouting. Their climate and culture does make it easier for young South Americans to adapt but it's still insane the players they churn out.

It's hard for any south american american player to turn down Porto, Sporting or Benfica.

Those 3 clubs have proven to be a magnificent platform for South American to make their name in Europe.

We should just focus our scouting on those clubs!

I see City have signed Fernando from Porto for £12m. They're probably just doing the same.

He is not on BR's radar. This guy will cost £50 plus, and chances are he will end up at Real Madrid, if he does go anywhere. Lets stop getting our hopes up and talk about realistic targets.

50 quid!? We can buy him for the club. Anyone ever set up a just giving account?

I brought James Rodriguez out me last night in Dublin. It was some craic. Even got the Kearney brothers in on the act.

From Marca:
[article=http://www.marca.com/2014/06/29/en/football/international_football/1404038474.html]James Rodríguez is becoming the star of this year's World Cup. The Colombian midfielder has scored in every one of his country's four games in Brazil and he is the tournament's top goalscorer. However, his childhood was far from an easy ride.

He was abandoned by his father at the age of three
James was born on 12th July 1991 in Cúcuta and he was just three when his father, a former footballer with Cali and Tolima walked out on his family. He was raised by his mother, Pilar Rubio, and his stepfather, Juan Carlos Restrepo.

He got married aged 19 and has one daughter
The star married Daniela, the sister of Colombia's first-choice goalkeeper, David Ospina. The couple's first child, Salomé, was born in 2013.

Oliver Atom is his idol and winning the Ballon d'Or is his dream
As a child, he didn't dream of emulating great Colombian players like Valderrama, Asprilla, Rincón... Instead, he wanted to be like the lead character in the cartoon football series 'Super Champions'. "One day winning the Ballon d'Or is the reason I train hard every day."

A bank guarantee stopped him joining Espanyol
Espanyol had a deal all but agreed with Argentine side Banfield to sign the youngster, but the deal fell through due to the club's inability to ensure a bank guarantee for his transfer fee.

He was only 15 when he made his debut with Envigado
He scored his first goal at 16, and remains the youngest foreigner ever to score in Argentine football, aged just 17.[/article]
