How good is James Rodrigues? I knew he was highly rated but this is my first time really watching him play. He came on at HT last night and took the piss.

Get him in a Liverpool shirt please.

Would he leave Monaco? They won't finish above P$G anytime soon and looks like his mate Falcao is off. Obviously he is being paid a shit load of money but one can dream.

I am loving Colombia btw. I've been supporting them for the off and my mate in work (artist on the side) mocked me up a hand made Colombia shirt. I'll get a few pics of it. We bought a plain yellow t-shirt for €2.50 and he created the replica shirt using just markers and tipex. No way was I actually buying an official shirt or anything mainstream like that. #hipster.

He's ridiculous Ryan. Knew you'd like him. He's a Sexy South American David Silva.

I'm sold Dave.

Nearly blew my load all over the living room this morning watching him swag all over that second half. It's like he was the only player on the pitch.

Plus, he's good looking too.

Like. A. Baws.

I'm getting a cardboard cut out of him. My new favourite player.

He'd cost 40million and it would be worth it to watch him swagger around Anfield on a Champions League night.

Bloody awesome player. Would love him just to hear Guy Mowbray call him Jaymes Rodrigues on MOTD!

We were interested in him a couple of seasons ago apparently 🙁

Yep agree with all the above. Had him in my fantasy team from the start of the tournament and got Colombia backed to reach to semi-finals. Marvellous player! He'd cost well over £40 million though, didn't Monaco buy him for that last year?! If he is valued at £40 million, which I very much doubt, we should use the Lallana and Moreno funds and make a proper signing to state our title ambitions.

James Rodriguez is a fantastic player.

Juan Fernando Quintero though ... this lad is gonna be something special.

He'll be bigger than the likes of Rodriguez & Martinez I have no doubt.

Great signing by Porto.

Falcao should be top scorer after the group games, I'm going with Colombia - @dantes, 7 December 2013.

Rodriguez is just a bit better than Falcao so we're still good. I impress myself sometimes.

I would have liked quintero when he was at pescara. He was inconsistent, but the talent was there

Porto just take the piss with their scouting. Their climate and culture does make it easier for young South Americans to adapt but it's still insane the players they churn out.

Could we not just "Tottenham" them? Watch for players they are interested in signing, then come in with a late bid ourselves.

Monaco paid 45 million Euros for him, after the world cup he is having he will be worth probably 75 million and the only potential places I could even see him going would be PSG, City, Barca, or Real.

There was definitely something fishy about that transfer though. Monaco signed Moutinho and Rodrigues at the same time for a combined fee. A larger % of the combined fee was assigned to Rodrigues as Porto owed money to Moutinho's previous club due to a sell on clause.

Does that make sense? I don't think I've made that up. Ha.

Considering how many great players come out of Porto, I'm not so sure it's purely down to having fantastic scouts, they clearly have a fantastic set up which makes these players the players they are. If we got them before Porto they'd probably just go Pacheco on us.

Their country's immigration laws help a lot too.

It's easier for the young players to settle and acclimatise to European Football at Porto. The culture is some what similar to their home countries, the standard of football isn't as competitive and they are under less pressure to perform immediately.

I think they can utilise 3rd party ownership or part owenrship there too. They wouldn't have to pay out an absolute fortune buying stars in South America if that's the case. They must have a deal with one of those South American companies who basically own players. It's ludicrous the players that pass through there.

Yep, exactly.

Awesome. His profile is the type of player we need to go after: 20-23 from a top club in a midtier euro league who will cost 20-30m.
