Many seem to want him sold. I could see some logic in that but he is hardly the worst midfielder we have. I would put a couple of names up before him.

I would sell Hendo before him.

There I've said it.

Not only did you say it, but you felt the need to make a new thread to do so when there are plenty of others you could have just hidden it away in. Well done you.

I thought the Mods/ Admin quite liked new threads being started, if they tackle different subjects?

Although, yeah, this could have gone into mine. As for Wijnaldum, I'm not sure I'd sell Henderson ahead of him. If he can stay fit and mobile, he's a useful player.

Ive forgot all about Gini, l bet he’s had a reet relaxing summer and fresh for the bench ahead.

I was all ready to go up in arms to defend Gini; but it seems he is more well liked than I thought so that's put a damper on things...

And i recognised on hindsight the potential contents here are going to be pretty similar to your midfield thread.

So, I apologise for wasting all this bandwidth.

Why the fuck would we want to sell him ? - he is one of those midfielders that has a bit of everything - not great at anything particular but you need a Gini in your team. No way and besides who the fuck would VVD have in the team to keep his Dutch up ? - no way he is an integral part and there are games where he makes the difference by finding space being the link man between midfield and attack. If we are going to sell anyone from this team of ours it has to be Adam Lallana, I think since we bought him you could count no more than 10 good games (if that). If we have any possibility of selling him before the transfer window closes then we should.

Gini at 27 and after the season he has had I would say would go for £50m, why not sell him? Mayer is available for free and is more versatile.

Not sure how you classify him as more versatile when Gini can play in all the positions that Meyer can and do it a lot better. Im not even a fan of Gini as he disappears too much but i'd still rather him than Max Meyer.

No, I might be wrong but I think the site likes new threads, if it concentrates debate, so I'm sure this is fine to discuss Wijnaldum

He's decent to have in reserve and always seems to perform in the big games, give or take the odd one. He's your typical divisive midfielder though, the water carrier, keeping everything going by recycling the ball well and turning defense into attack with the drop of the shoulder in tight spots. Him and Lallana were pretty invaluable in that sense previously, but we now have a few options on that note.

I think if a fairly sizable offer came in, we'd have to consider it, same with Lallana, as both will have fallen down the pecking order, but I'd certainly have one of them retained for adding depth. Lallana is more effective but injury prone, Gini offers less in the way of direct impact, but is a bit of a Duracell bunny.
