Obviously hope to avoid Valencia. We should be too strong for the rest over two legs.

Lets put Hamburg out, as I wouldn't fancy playing them in the Final in their own back yard.

Roma wasn't a problem 😉

Get Valencia out the way and we should piss this trophy.

No need, haven't you heard. Fulham are now the giant killers of europe. Let them take Valencia out.

I'd prefer to avoid Fulham, daft as it sounds.

We always play poorly against home sides in European competition, we seem to have a psychological advantage over continental sides.

I was embarrassed for us to be in this tournament, but now I'm well into it.....

A win would be great for morale...

If you stayed at home and watched it on telly.

I seem to remember that after the shenanigans in Rome in 1984 UEFA said they'd never allow a team to play in a European final in their own stadium again.

Anyone but Fulham for me. It's just not right playing English teams in European competition.

I think we will meet Valencia before the end of this competition, whether it is in the next round, who knows?

It would be nice for Rafa to sign off his LFC career with a trophy, won against his former club. I wish it for him and us.

no fulham please, nothing to with fear I'm just fed up facing english opposition in europe it feels too much like an ordinary domestic game.

I'm still struggling to enthuse about this competition but hopefully the financial gain of winning it (as well as the trophy obviously) will be akin to the financial gain that we would have achieved by a semi-final place in the CL.

Which we've tended to be shite at this year. Any of the continental sides please. We play better against them, simple as that. in fact, I want the best now please.

It's embarrassing enough being in this shitty competition, let's beat the very best on the way to winning the thing to regain some fucking pride, eh?

I would. It'd be ace. You'd be guaranteed a fantastic atmosphere if nothing else.

Liverpool-Standard Liege
Fulham-Benfica
Valencia-Hamburg
Ath. Madrid-Wolfsburg

Would be great.

Nope. Unless teh prize money is massively different to teh Uefa Cup it'll be nowhere near.

I remember us debating this & I checked the prize meony & win bpnus etc on Uefa site & if you get to the group stage & dont win any games in the CL you make more money than winning the UEFA cup.

mad.

the prize money is a factor but you also have to take into account gate receipts as well, it all adds up.

That's not the question though.

Would our winning the europa league, having had our games in the group stage, beat our getting KO'd in the round of 16, i.e. 2 games additional?

True, I was just explaining that the difference is that immense that it's highly unlikely.

i hate this europa stuff. i want us to get knocked out but i can't help but want us to win whilst watching the game. it is also some extra footy to watch on a thursday which can be good - although i've missed 2 of them so far.

I read somewhere that Werder Bremen made more money by reaching the final of the UEFA cup than Bayern did in exited at quarter final stage of the Champions League.

i'd like this cleared up as i might enjoy it more if winning the thing is the difference between a new player or not.
