... for a decent run now to end the year, and see us nicely poised for a push for that European Cup spot after all.

Every one of the next five or six are very winable. Then United at home...

Not making any rash predictions, but I'm optimistic that things are looking up at last.

That's a loser mentality.

We're gonna win the league.

Y'know, it's funny...

Over the weekend, Insignificance had a bit of a pop at me for having very low expectations, because I was satisfied that we did exactly what was required in Bucharest, regardless of the performance. 30 minutes after my last reply to him, I was told by a friend from Sunderland that I have a ridiculous sense of entitlement, because LFC used to rule the world. And his opinion was the result of my making exactly the same point.

Just a point. we dont play Utd until 5th March. We play them 9away in the cup on 9th of January

To be fair to everyone tonight, we beat a Villa side (admittedly struggling but are still no mugs) without our three most influential outfield players and our two genuine world class superstars out.

I for one think everyone deserves a pat on the back. And whisper it quietly, well done Roy for being brave and sticking Babel up top.

That sorted me out for the night.

I remember saying the same thing about wigan and stoke.

I'm not getting my hopes up again.

Yes, but (and I understand that the next part of this post says a lot about us at present...) Wigan and Stoke away are tougher than any of the matches that we have coming up soon.

Again, not predicting 18 points out of the next 6 matches or anything, but cautiously optimistic.

We are showing some signs of improvement in our play. Away form is worrying of course. Keep plugging away and playing the way we are I think we can put that right

Exactly - Play like we did at WHL for the rest of the season, and the away wins will pile up.

It's getting better, and we still have time to achieve our goal this season.

I away record is nothing short of dismal. I desperately hope that Roy read all the reports and forums praising our play and formation at Spurs and that it gives him the courage to keep to it.

I find the praise for the Spurs game very over the top. Yes we missed a couple of great chances to score but they also missed a penalty and we had to have two goal line clearances to stop them scoring more. Our defence was terrible at times.

And, most importantly, we lost.

Given our previous showings away from home - and yes, the result was the same Brendan - the performance was unrecognizable to what we dished up on our travels previously. It's almost a shame that Roy chose the Spurs game as the time to try it cause against about 15 other teams it would have worked perfectly. Like Froggy and others I desperately hope that Roy has decided to go out swinging away from home - I think it'll be the difference between 4th and mid table mediocrity.
