Fuck him. He disrespected the club.

End of discussion as far as I'm concerned

He wanted short term success, sacrificing long term admiration

All about the cheddar

I hope Kanwar didn't write that.

He hates when you don't credit him...

Did anyone hear any rumours about Torres to the Mancs? I tuned at the ending of a sports bulletin on RTE radio this morning and Dunphy and Frehill seemed to have been discussing it.

I'd prefer the Mancs to spend 20m on him than us. They can add him to their endless of injury prone players.
[/quote]

Judas hasn't been injured in quite a while though. I suppose you do need to be playing to get injured, but still.

He's still injury prone, and is likely to be for the rest of his career. I hope another one of our rivals waste their money on him.

It became enmeshed with "Would You?" thread! I would presume that thread will be swallowed up by this "Fernando" thread! *gulp*

EXCLUSIVE: Give us £20m and Torres is yours! Chelsea will accept huge loss on flop striker
By NEIL ASHTON

Chelsea will listen to offers for £50million flop Fernando Torres in next month's transfer window.
The £150,000-a-week striker has scored just three Barclays Premier League goals since his move to Stamford Bridge from Liverpool on January 31.
Chelsea considered sending him on loan to rebuild his shattered confidence, but they are now prepared to sell.

The club will have to take a massive financial hit on the most expensive player in British football history, but they have almost exhausted their other options.
Instead they will listen to any club prepared to offer around £20m and match his huge salary demands next month.
When Andre Villas-Boas became Chelsea boss in the summer he was convinced Torres could recapture the form that turned him into one of the most feared strikers in world football.
The manager hoped signing Juan Mata from Valencia would improve Torres's game, but even that has failed to spark the Spaniard back to his former glories.

Chelsea have been patient with the 27-year-old, but the feelers are already out in Europe to find Torres a top club to take him in January.
The World Cup winner has been a disaster since moving to the Bridge and is now behind Didier Drogba and Daniel Sturridge in the pecking order.
He did not even get off the bench against Manchester City on Monday night and stayed immobile in the dug-out as the rest of the substitutes, along with the backroom team, celebrated Frank Lampard's late winner from the penalty spot.

It underlines Torres's frustration with his position and the belief that he is now firmly out in the cold at Chelsea.
Although he remains a popular figure with supporters at the London club, he has failed to live up to his billing as one of the best players in the world.
There were signs of the old Torres magic when he scored at Old Trafford in September, but all the hard work was undone when he was sent off against Swansea in the following game.

He went 13 games without a goal when he signed for Chelsea, finally getting off the mark in a 3-0 win over West Ham on April 23. He was mobbed by team-mates at the time, but then went another nine games before scoring against Manchester United on September 18.
He has scored only four goals this season, despite starting 11 games, with two of those coming against Genk in the Champions League in October.

Why so glum, Fernando?
The arms go up, the roars bellow out. Manager Andre Villas-Boas leads Chelsea’s celebrations as the final whistle blows on Monday night.
But take a closer look... one player doesn’t appear to be in victory mode.
£50million man Torres (circled) appears glum after another match on the bench watching his team-mates shine.
Was there something in the air that night, Fernando?

Apparently its the Daily Mail reporting that Chelsea are prepared to let him go for £20m.

Chelsea have rubbished that story.

They say they have no plans to sell him.

I hate this, I'm the sucker, you know the guy that'll always stick by the girl despite how much she hurts him, just because I remember how great we were together. It's the same with Fernando, despite everything I remember what in footballing terms he meant to us, he was the best striker we've had in the last ten years, he embodied what we were, he was well on the path to becoming a club legend. He can come back and rekindle that, and whilst he'll never ever gain the stature he could have done, if he comes back and plays as even two thirds of what he was for the next five years, we'll win trophies and he'll gain forgiveness and potentially become a legend.

£20million is a bit on the steep side for me, at £15m i'd bite there hands off, all I know is that if we resigned him this january, i'd be like a kid on Christmas, and all you haters can hate and be bitter, I'll be revelling in the goals and games he's winning for us.

Mystic, I'm with you. I take no pleasure in watching this guy wilt under the pressure of knowing full well that he made the granddaddy of all mistakes. Few footballers were at the front of the queue when the brains were handed out, and they can be easy prey for agents and others who are out to take care of themselves rather than the player's interests. I think that's what happened to Torres, he knows it and he bitterly regrets it. I'd rather screw them down to about £10-12 mill.but then I'd be all over it, because to me it would unquestionably be a gamble worth taking. Balague's said it won't happen, but he's not been a reliable tipster since Rafa left.

Who'd buy him on the evidence of the past two years of playing? No one with any sense, surely, just sentiment.

Maybe you're right, and its probably proof as to why we won't get him, as isn't buying older players for higher prices based purely on reputation one of the fundamental nots of that moneyball lark?

2 years ago was december 09. 09/10 he scored 18 in 22 games.

even last january he was in fine (but brief) goalscoring form for us under Kenny.

Last January was a very brief period when, even then, his overall play was poor. Before then, he looked to me, for many months, as if he was not only too bored to use up any effort but also crocked. It's just a personal view - I wouldn't want him back under any conditions.

fair comment.. The rumours flying about last night it was to be in the mirror.. and I also assumed it was, going to be in there. Talksport have been basing their show on this article all morning... Seem speculatative journalismn tbh.. nothing concrete in the article to say Chelsea will sell.. however there is no smoke without fire.. Also makes a top talking point for these forums..

I guess it boils down to what you consider the most likely explanation for the way his career has gone in that time. If it were that his body simply isn't up to it any more, Chavski would surely have found that out. My money's still on his agents and the Chavs (who, you can be sure, will have been tapping him up long before he actually left) dripping poison into his ear and persuading him to move when his heart was never in it. If that's right, and at his age, there could easily be £10 mill's worth of an investment still in there.

We should sign him; it's a no brainer.

Give a fuck about all this loyalty sh*t. I want goals. We know how to use him.

I think it was mentioned on another site that Kenny wont even think about resigning due to the circumstances when he left. Mark mc said Torres had done some absolutly horrific cuntish things didnt he?

Because he's been so prolific the past year

For the squizzillionth time, let's focus on how hilarious is would be if he came back for fuck all and scored shitloads of goals for us. Like Jules, I don't think it's all about his body because he used to score all sorts of goals for us, long range shots, tap ins, goals form corners, headerses - it wasn't just about those mad slaloming runs he used to make. Even for Chelsea he's been in plenty of goalscoring positions, his head is just fucked.

There's loads of younger strikers I'd rather have us sign like Leandro or Higuain or *cough* Neymar, but if the money was right he'd be worth a punt. 15m for him is a better gamble than 35 for Carroll was.

Ah all that's easily resolved. He comes back- we blame the agent, otherwise we stick with the original version, that's he's a little bitch

£15 or £20 mill doesn't matter - if we cant find a better way to spend that money than Torres (lol!) then we should sack Comolli and all the scouts.
