Exeter v Liverpool match thread

Wow. Tonight is alright because we didn't lose to Exeter.
Come on Lefty are you being deliberately obtuse? - it was a reserve team that we had to cobble together.
Given our situation with too many games and too few injuries I think Klopp would not have been unhappy to jettison the FA cup - and frankly I would not have lost any sleep

I'm really not. What a chance that was for lads who should be chomping at the bit to stake their claim. Irrespective of the names on the shirts a Liverpool team was lucky not to be knocked out of the cup by Exeter tonight.

I thought most of them did well , I'm sorry and surprised you didn't - the three that didn't were not kids Benteke, Enrique and Bogdan - Enrique has a bit of an excuse.

Could Illori be converted into a decent DM? He was good with the ball at his feet, covered pretty well for Enrique and the FBs. Not strong enough for a Premier League CB, but very quick and seems to read the game fairly well.

Thoughts?

There's mileage in it - but I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that he's not strong enough for a CB just yet

Can I just say that hat kid Ojo - played with great intelligence, there is definitely a future for him in our team. As for Sinclair - kind of went missing after his goal.

You can say.
He looked good. I was kind of hoping Sinclair wouldn't play well as I've got it in my mind he's a bit of a cunt and is getting off - so I'm glad he faded [emoji48]. He certainly didn't look the pick of the bunch

Fuck sake lefty there were 8 kids out there. You expect 2 or 3 to "stake their claim" as you say. Not a full team. Especially kids who have barely played together before.

A shameful performance. Yes, a few of the players will have learned some stuff from this, but christ, in front of a terrestrial broadcaster, go to hell. They coast through reserve games, the lazy overpaid feckers. They're not hungry stars in the making. They're preening wankers who can't wait to find the pics best to get on instagram. The whole thing I want to block out of my my mind.

I think its time for you to pack in watching footy Macca.

I watch these players a lot, much more so than many on here, so you carry on finding excuses and over-indulging them if you wish. Some posts sound like reviews of the school nativity play.

It was actually a joke about how stressed you seem to be by it all. Never mind.

I'm not blaming individuals...with the exception of Bogdan...I'm commenting on how the result reflects on the entire club. Ask yourself this, if that had been a Man Utd or Chelsea team playing Exeter last night, irrespective of the strength and experience of their side, would we not have been pissing ourselves laughing and then bemoaning their good fortune at still being in the cup this morning?

United did draw with them a few years back if I remember rightly.

And did we cite a crap pitch and youthful team in their defence?

Wouldn't know. Who cares, what were you expecting? I couldn't give a fuck what any other club thinks.

A bunch of youngsters who haven't played together for a while, some only returned off loan a matter of hours before the game, against a up for it league 2 side on a shit pitch. Draw is a great result.

I think Klopp post match re: pitch etc was perfectly fine and he wouldn't have been the only top level manager to make reference to it I'm sure had their teams been playing on it

No

I can understand maccas view, as he knows these players are capable of more and didn't show it

Lefty is confusing me. He seems to have gone a bit hard on the ol' klopp criticism since he joined us
