Me too. I don't give a fuck how bad he is for England, but he can be excellent going forward. Creativity is the area where England and Liverpool have both struggled, and he can contribute massively in this area.

I fear that I have a Magic blind spot. I really like him.
As long as he keeps doing the good stuff in the oppo half i dont think anyone will give a fuck if hes caught out at the back a bit. I just wish we'd give him a bash at RM a'la Bale at Spurs.
I stopped taking you seriously when i saw Johnson marked with a score above average. He was awful, constantly missing at the back and profligate going forward. He was lucky to get a 4.

You cannot be taught how to attack like Johnson can.

He's skilful, fast, intelligent and dynamic with his play over the half way line - but yes, there are issues over his defensive game. I am confident, however, that he will improve this side of his game. He's still young for a defender and he does have moments where he is very good defensively. When talking about his defensive game, I think the term 'erratic' is more fitting than just plain 'shit'.

Im probably oldfashioned but I have this thing where I feel that the first thing a defender should be able to do is to defend

I do agree, but Johnson has kept the faith of Benitez and Capello though, which does mean something. Despite their current low level of popularity, they're still known as two of the finest tacticians in the game, and this shouldn't be completely disregarded for good old fashioned 'keep it simple' football fan mentality.

Johnson would be fine as fullback if we had a LB who didn't wonder up the pitch, do nothing, and then leave two CB's are their own and your DM running around like a mad man trying to stop everything. We can accommodate him, but it has to be done so more intelligently than it has been thus far. Despite the mundaneness surrounding his signing, Konchesky will go along way to seeing us look more solid at the back.

It's also worth remembering that Johnson has sometimes looked the only player capable of unlocking a team.

Johnson is awesome, sure he isnt the greatest defender, but he can do a decent job there aswell as help out in attack and create something

Hart a 9 ?
Gerrard only a 7 ?

I think the media & this forum has got to you mate. He made a number of mistakes, and it was certainly not one of his better matches, but he also did a lot of good work, passing , combining and proving an integral part of MF and the overall fluency of the team. Even though I agree with his prolificacy.

Couldn't agree more. He tends to be criminally under-rated on here, and by the fan populace in general, at times.
Ok.

Johnson is a great 'player' but I'm more than unimpressed with his defensive game, he just has so many lapses and gets caught too wide or too advanced time and time again. His concentration can be fucking awful aswell. He needs to sort it out because we've always worked on a good defensive basis, and all I can see is that since he arrived, we've been all over the place at the back.

Johnson was gash last night, end of.

He offered very little going forward in terms of constructiveness and defensively he was caught napping far too many times.

Any half decent side would have put a few past England last night and Glenjo would've contributed towards our downfall, bigtime.

3/10

Fairly sure I heard Townsend claim that Walcott had a good game too, he was useless for the 80 mins he was on the pitch.

The only players I'd really give above par ratings to would be Gerrard,Jagielka, Rooney,Defoe and Cole
