I do agree, but Johnson has kept the faith of Benitez and Capello though, which does mean something. Despite their current low level of popularity, they're still known as two of the finest tacticians in the game, and this shouldn't be completely disregarded for good old fashioned 'keep it simple' football fan mentality.
Johnson would be fine as fullback if we had a LB who didn't wonder up the pitch, do nothing, and then leave two CB's are their own and your DM running around like a mad man trying to stop everything. We can accommodate him, but it has to be done so more intelligently than it has been thus far. Despite the mundaneness surrounding his signing, Konchesky will go along way to seeing us look more solid at the back.
It's also worth remembering that Johnson has sometimes looked the only player capable of unlocking a team.
