I could think of a few leftbacks that would/ have struggled with Walcotts pace, and most of them have played for us over the last few years
walcott is like babel, brainless. when you have that much pace, just kick the ball beyond the defender and then skin them. it's not rocket science but time and time again they end up just kicking the ball into the defenders legs.
Yup sounds easy eh? Kick the ball beyond the defender and run....

Have you ever kick a ball Spidey boy?
Did he say it was easy glock

did he?

No. He didn't. He said thats all walcott does. Which is true, as walcott is shite like lennon.

Incidentally, and i'll ask this in a way you can understand you crazy irish/asian mystery: have you ever construct sentence sense?

i've reminded myself of it

he runs near enough in a straight line, kicking the ball quite far ahead of himself whenever there was a liverpool defender, and running past them

You really think that? Walcott's speed alone makes him a handful. He always seems to cause full backs trouble when I've watched him.
Maybe I don't watch enough of him, but whenever I've seen Walcott in the last couple years he's been reliant on space behind the defence being manufactured for him in order to be effective.

You're right, that is what he does, but that's still tricky to defend against and there were a couple of times he got that run on Enrique which would have left many full backs on there arse, but Enrique kept pace with him and shut him out, hence my comment.

That was one tactic, but it was not exclusive, but when he did it was effective.
Anyways the point is he tore our defenders a new arse quite often , and he did not do that to Enrique, which was the whole point of the debate. Rather than agree Enrique looks to be a decent player, some people prefer to dismiss that idea and instead talk down Walcott, which is fucking ridiculous.

I seem to recall him having Ashley Young and Nani/Valencia in his top pocket in a couple of games last season, are they classed as good wingers?

Fair enough vlad. Whenever I think of Walcott now I just think a 17yr old substitute kept him in his pocket

Re: enrique, it's clear to anyone he's classy and that will only improve as he fully acclimatises to our defence.

Looks like he'll have a lot to do to earn a spot in the national team with Valencia's Jordi Alba, 3 yrs his junior earning a debut call ahead of him for Spain's upcoming qualifying matches against Czech Republic and Scotland.

Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Jose Reina (Liverpool), Victor Valdes (Barcelona).

Defenders: Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Alvaro Arbeloa (Real Madrid), Carles Puyol (Barcelona), Gerard Pique (Barcelona), Raul Albiol (Real Madrid), Jordi Alba (Valencia).

Midfielders: Sergio Busquets (Barcelona), Javier Martinez (Athletic Bilbao), Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid), Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona), Thiago Alcantara (Barcelona), Xavi Hernandez (Barcelona), Pedro Rodriguez (Barcelona), David Silva (Mancester City), Santi Cazorla (Malaga), Juan Mata (Chelsea).

Forwards: David Villa (Barcelona), Alvaro Negredo (Sevilla), Fernando Llorente (Athletic Bilbao), Fernando Torres (Chelsea).

Wow, how times have changed so quickly.
Only four players in their squad playing in England.
At one point we had 4-5 players from Liverpool alone!

BTW Binny I think the situation for Enrique will change once we're back in the CL.

don't get me wrong ,overall i'm happy with his signing but at times he's looked a bit suspect defensively .....he lacks a bit of urgency for me , like he doesn't see the danger or get himself back into position quickly enough .

Thought its worth a mention.

2 assists in 2 games. 2nd goal by Suarez against Wolves and today's opener by Carroll.
Indeed.... defensively suspect my hole.

GET THE FUCK IN!!

I knew Enrique was the real deal ever since I saw him play for Newcastle in the championship. Desperately wanted him to join.
Weird that Del Bosque isn't giving him a chance. Good for us though.

To think that we wanted Clichy.

He didn't give Coleman a sniff. He's still a bit indulgent and holds onto the ball a bit too long at times but all positives so far from him. Bargain ant 5.5 million.

Yes, he can be a bit indulgent on the ball, and get caught positionally at times. But he's generally superb one-on-one. Very good pace, and tremendous strength.

Very competent going forward as well. Pretty happy with him thus far.

Yup, all this.

He's class. Not once have I seen him outpaced, outstrengthed or outsmarted. Okay, I might be exaggerating, but I can't recall anybody even coming close to giving him the run around. He does hold onto it a bit, though, and a couple of times complacency has crept in. But, if he keeps up this form, we have a real player on our hands.
