Dortmund vs Liverpool post-match thread

They're better than us but couldn't make it count. Good goal by Origi.

I thought the same about the Spurs game, we really have to stop throwing away very presentable chances if we are going to beat better sides. Thought we looked very good at the back and Morenos ridiculous challenge aside came too far from our own penalty area to count as a proper fuck up but it illustrates how bad his decision making is at times.

Handerson was poor before he went off, beginning to suspect hes never going to consistently recapture his best form with us. Seems to play one good game in 4 or 5 now and just plods along for the others. Good to see Firmino back briefly, we have missed him, far too reliant on Coutinho in his absence.

An elite striker buries the one on one for two away goals. Presentable chances indeed.

I wasn't worried for a moment that Allen was replacing Henderson, I thought he'd add more attacking impetus because we found it difficult to get out of midfield at times. Allen helped us do just that, especially as the match wore on.

Sorry but that's bollocks. Ronaldo missed a penalty last weekend (again). All players miss chances, but Origi is still very young and will only get better and better and more confident, with experience.

I simply wasn't worried at all as the match wore on. In fact I thought we may even have a chance of a breakaway goal .. and nearly did. We had the better chances, were defensively superb and deserved at the very least the draw we earned. Brilliant play from the players and the manager.

Excellent hard working performance. Solid throughout and well organized. Several really good chances spurned which is the story of the season. Klopp's tactics worked well. Again we just look a little goal shy.

Of course great strikers miss. But great strikers can be expected to score in that situation- relied upon even - and Origi isn't there yet of course.

He did really well to stay onside though. He was off and pulled himself back showing some great awareness in that situation. And the keeper was a little lucky, the ball hit him close to his head. Didn't think he knew much about it.

Didn't think I'd be disappointed with a score draw but I was in the end. Maybe it was us defending well but Dortmund were quite average on the night. They obviously have some very good players but we coped with them quite well.

Its extremely funny that two of the best performances out there were from Origi and Sakho.
How many heads have exploded? Brendan must be tearing his hair out.

Joking aside, great result against one of the best home teams in Europe. 19 wins in the last 22 and no losses.

Great performances all around but a shite goal to give away.
Lovren, Sakho, Origi and Can were brilliant.

Shame about Hendo. Will have a scan on that knee injury.

Great result. E gave the ball away too often though, coutinho guilty of this the most. Poor game by his standards, although he did have those couple of decent shots

I thought our players had the physical advantage. We seemed to win many of the 50-50 balls.
We did defend well, and they didn't threaten much.
I really like the way Can is developing into a superb CM. His presence is really impressive' and with Klopp to monitor his progress we are going to have a world class CM (until Madrid comes calling).
Origi had a very good game, won many of the balls in the air and held the ball very well. I initially was very sceptical about him, but if he keeps improving he may become a good forward.
We could have won this game and I hope we don't regret missing those chances we had late in the first half and early in the second half.

which way? Were they average so it was easy for us to nullify them, or were we good in nullifying them so we made them look average.

We nullified them and made them look average, their best attacking players, Reus and Aubameyang, were denied the space and time they needed to be effective and drifted out of the game. Once your opponents best players heads start to drop it becomes much easier to defend against. I thought Clyne did a great job on Reus.

1-1 is a decent result. .
Hummels (as mentioned previously) is a vulnerable defender and made a fuck up in his challenge with Milner leading to Origi's goal.

Sakho as unfashionable (and erratic) as he is, he still has great games in him. Its still too early to condemn him as a failure.

KHL is the only one in my mind that is responding as we should be in this thread.

We played a team that could have torn us apart but the right approach and enough decent performances got us a result we can build on.

I think it's why opinion is so divided on Sakho, those who love him see these great games he has, those who hate him see the Spurs game, if he could just find some consistency he'd be absolutely outstanding.

You could make two highlight vids of Sakho tonight, one making him look like an unbeatable 30m top defender and one making him look like Djimi Traores nervy brother.

He has been equally good and shite recently. Overall tonight I thought he contributed a lot towards the victory.

Well happy with the lads tonight, and Klopp got everything bang on.

We still have some players that wreck my head though. Sakho and Can to name but two. Can was back to his sloppy, clumsy ways that 1st half but really got a grip 2nd half and was flawless.

All in all really positive result and it sets things up nicely for next Thurs.

I know @mark1975 mentions it all the time, Moreno's tackling is possibly the worst I've ever seen from a premier league defender.

He's always throwing himself around, or leading with the wrong leg. If he wasn't so fast he'd be nowhere near this level.

Or fucking shite

I can't work the geezer out. If he played like he did tonight and against United in 2nd leg especially we'd have one of the best centre back's about. But then he serves up a large plate of shite against Southampton and Spurs and we're back to square one. I bet his teammates and Klopp can't work him out either.
