He got two assists and generally looked dangerous, can't really complain about that.
My thoughts.

His overall play wasn't the best, but he did what he needed to do, and that was help his year score goals

Diego Costa: Liverpool in big-money swoop for Atletico star

Liverpool have bid in excess of £20m for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, according to Sky Sports sources.
The offer is believed to have triggered a release clause in the Brazil international's contract.
Costa, 24, scored 10 goals in La Liga last season, and 20 in 44 games in all competitions.

Atletico are reportedly prepared to let him go as they have signed strikers David Villa from Barcelona and Leo Baptistao from Rayo Vallecano.
Costa joined Atletico from Valladolid in 2010 and made his international debut for Brazil in March this year.
Costa, a powerful 6'2" striker, would become the fourth most expensive signing in Liverpool's history after Andy Carroll (£35m), Fernando Torres (£26m) and Luis Suarez (£22.8m).

The attempt to sign Costa is not however believed to mean Liverpool are resigned to losing Suarez.
On Thursday boss Brendan Rodgers told LFC TV: "(New signings) have to be of the right quality, that's the bottom line.
"We've got money to spend on getting that quality in, but if it's not available I won't waste it for the sake of bringing a player in.
"We're really working hard to bring in the type of profile that can really help us push on."

The fact he scored that many goals in La Liga gives me hope.... I'd probably say the quality of defending in La Liga is slightly higher than the Premiership, so you would hope he might be able to force 20 goals per season.....

so it seems we have a budget of 20-22m for an attacking player . who could be alternatives to this lad considering nobody seems fully sold on him ? The danish lad at ajax(although prob cheaper) , that brazilian bernard , who else ?

Eriksen and probably Muriel are in that price range, as is that Ukrainian/Rubbish guy, Kopo-something.

id like muriel, im a bit meh about eriksen, i want this guy because id weirdly like us to become the most hated team to ever win a league title

For no reason at all I am warming to the idea of this guy. I like the idea that he's fast, strong, direct and not afraid of a scuffle, makes me think he'll adapt well here. I'm really starting to like the idea of.

-------------Sturridge-------------
Suarez----Coutinho-----Costa

With them all changing and doing pretty much what they like, that's a terrifying front four.

The fact we are actually being linked with an attacking player that's taller than 1.80 cm bodes well imo. I get that we want to play a fast-paced, passing game with loads of movement and interaction between the front players, I really like that too, but sometimes it would actually be nice to win an attacking header without having to rely on one of our two central defenders.

I doubt we could get Muriel for £22m based on what the Udinese dude said, and has done in the past. Would be close to £30m I reckon. Dunno much about Fischer, he might be a good alternative. From the little I know about Costa I'm fairly positive - I like that he still seems to be getting better in his mid 20s, so we should still get 5 or 6 'peak' years out of him. That's a crucial thing to consider - so many attackers are past their best by 27 or 28.

Seems like we might still be spending the £20m or so net so that's good too.

I'm way beyond trying to figure out in advance if a signing is good or not. If we sign a player for £20m+ I'm excited no matter what(almost). With Costa there's a bonus of him being a bit of a character and I love characters in this boring era of modern football.

If we keep Suarez and have this as a front four with the likes of Aspas, Sterling, Ibe, Borini, Downing interchanging when required then I think we could be a pretty fucking dangerous team next year!

@Herr Onceared, sign me up for Dumbledore's Army!!

What we all think of him is immaterial. As with all other transfers, whether the fans want a player or not has no relevance.

well yeah obviously ..but let's be honest , we'd probably have done a better job of it than some of our managers over the last few yrs !!!

If Luis stays that would be a 4 headed monster indeed, don't get my hopes up @Mystic

We play all 4 on a regular basis and it will be southampton away all over again. We'd be too top heavy and would get roasted on the counter as well as getting overrun in midfield.

He made his way into the Brazilian team for earlier this year. Interesting. He also spent time @ Celta Vigo. I wonder if he crossed paths with the other nutter Aspas. So if Suarez stays, we'll have potentially three fiery characters attacking for us. I like that a lot. There goes the Fair Play league indeed. We need some fecking tinkers. It's not the Liverpool way, but neither is finishing 7th.

I hope this means we sell Borini or loan him to an Italian club. Mentally I've already written him off - just do whatever is going to get us the most money back.

Whatever Suarez' concerns are about a lack of marquee signings, it's been pretty obvious that in the short time together on the pitch, there's a fair bit of promise in his link up play with Aspas, they've looked decent together. Early days, but add another to that who wants to fight tooth and nail that badly, and they could potentially be a fucking nightmare for anyone to shape up against. Brings a whole new meaning to defending from the front.
