Diego Costa

So is Costa being signed as a foil to Suarez/ Studge? If so, that could be a pretty formidable front three.

With Aspas, Sterling, Borini, Ibe, Alberto, Downing as cover then we really are looking stacked in terms of forwards/ wingers. Indeed, if we sign, I've a feeling Downing and perhaps Borini are gone (esp. if we are committed to hanging on to Suarez).

I could see Sterling going on loan and Ibe only seeing minutes if we have some serious injuries. Downing is essentially replaced by Aspas for me, and Alberto/Borini will regularly come off the bench. Alberto by trade is an advanced player, but the amount of minutes he sees might depend on how deep he can play.

Of course of all these attackers, it's probable that at least a third will succumb to injury/form over the season, I wouldn't be surprised to see Downing leave though if an offer comes in. Borini is still only 22, on relatively low wages, and could still come good so I like the idea of keeping him.

If he is really coming then to me that says suarez is off. Im hoping im big time wrong as i'd rather suarez over costa anyday. But i can't see us spending so much money up front while neglecting midfield and defence and still keeping suarez.

This is quite traumatic for me to admit, but the other day I was writing to a friend and I actually had to think quite hard about whether to use 'who's' or 'whose' in a particular context.

Damn you internet! :arghh:

If you think that's bad, type literally into Google and see what comes up right at the top

We'll see, but I hope and even believe that we want to keep Suarez and have this guy (although I think he is being bought to cover the contingency that we'll lose Suarez to a late bid from a Spanish/ European giant). I think we're committed to not selling to Arsenal unless a ridiculous bid comes in.

Oh dear God.

I'm not sure what's worse, this sort of thing or the really accelerated Americanisation that I see everywhere. That First Dates show had a gay fellow on it a couple of weeks ago saying how he'd always grown up aspiring to the archetypal domestic idyll (probably not in those words), 'white picket fences' and all that. Urgh.

if we get this lad then that's quite a few forwards La Liga has lost - costa , Negredo , soldado to the premier league. Falcao has gone , not a forward but navas to city also . Who else ? Thiago to bayern .

Anyway guess it means the gap to barca and madrid will widen even further .

Well you would naturally wonder how long Spain can continue as the dominant league while the county is practically in a depression. I noticed that their CL revenues are pretty low compared to equivalent English and Italian clubs, for example. And as you say, Madrid and Barca are pretty well insulated from the national economy for various reasons, so the league is likely to become more and more of a procession.

Will be interesting to see how far it's sustainable.

Who was the last team, apart from Real or Barcelona, to win la liga? Valencia?

If we have made a bid which meets the release clause as stated by numerous reputable sources (BBC, Echo, Telegraph) surely there should be some more news regarding being able to speak to the player etc?

Sevilla went really close in 2007, I think. I was genuinely gutted that fucking Real Madrid, under Fabio Capello, of all people, pipped them in the last couple of games.

They would've been excellent champions.

He doesn't look that good on Youtube.

Ha, I must admit I watched about 3 mins of that clip Skullflower posted and was extremely meh. A few decent assists and touches but also rather many lost headers, clumsy dribbles etc. To little to judge him upon of course, but I am glad I am not the only one who found it rather average.

I do like the fact he seems strong however, and tall, we miss that in our team. Not so much the loony side of him though.

That video was just one game like

I could not agree more. What I just found odd was the comments regarding that clip in particular as it almost made me fall asleep.

He got two assists and generally looked dangerous, can't really complain about that.
