Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has been included in the Spain squad to face France next week.

Torres is back to fitness after recovering from knee surgery which ruled him out for five weeks.

There were no surprises in Vicente del Bosque's 23-man selection with Torres and Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna returning after injuries.

Sevilla winger Jesus Navas has again been included after making his debut in Spain's 2-1 victory over Argentina in November.

Del Bosque insists there is no problem with Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez over his inclusion of Torres with the striker having previously picked up injuries on international duty.

"Torres played in Liverpool's last (league) match and seems to have recovered and he looks to be in a condition to play," said Del Bosque.

"We have had no differences with (Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez), nor with any other coach."

Del Bosque says there are still places up for grabs in his squad before he finalises his selection for this summer's World Cup finals.

"This is not an absolutely final list for the World Cup, only one for the friendly against France," added Del Bosque.

I can't see the problem - Torres will need a few games to get his match fitness back, so I don't see the harm of him playing in an international. If anything it is to our advantage.

Is that what happened last time

It's a different situation this time. Torres needs games to get back to match fitness. He could equally well get injured playing for us.

at least then we might get 60 min out of him and a goal

Hardly surprisingly I agree with Portly, Torres needs games under his belt, and providing he was handled right I don't see the issue. I would be quite happy to see him, or any other first team player, coming back after injury in some reserve games, but we hardly play any reserve games, it's a good way of bringing his fitness up

We need a match fit Torres and quick

Yeah, but the fuckers dont seem to know how to warm him up to stop him getting injured. He gets injured way more with them than us, & when you consider how much time proportionally he spends with them compared to us that's ridiculous.

I can't really accept that Spain don't have at least the same ability as us in that area Jon, they will be just as keen as us to make sure Torres keeps fit over the coming months.

They shouldn't play him without our permission if it's just friendly.

They do owe us after fucking him up last time.

Not that football works like that.

I can understand the concerns of some about Fernando playing for Spain in light of previous experiences. I think though in this instance the need to wrap him in cotton wool is superseded by the need to get him match fit asap.

Even if there is a greater risk of him getting injured on International duty, in this case it is in the clubs interest to take the risk and let him play, thus getting him nearer to full match fitness for us.

So one would hope, but the number of times he's come back injured from an international fixture is worrying. I agree he needs match fitness, so maybe this is a risk that has to be taken, but on past performance that risk seems to be greater when he goes away with Spain than it would be if we kept him under our wing here at home.

I doubt our medical team look favourable compared to anyone, TBH.

Wasnt he coming back from injury the last time they fucked him up? Then they kept him with the squad for the midweek game instead of sending him back.

Yeah. Fucking useless Spanish. I bet they wish they had our medical staff. I bet they're dead jealous that they're medical staff can't extend an Italian international's injury from 4 weeks to 4 months. Losers.

Saying that I'd tell old droopy muzzy to get to fuck. We pay Fernando's wages. We'll decide what he does. Should fuck off internationals off altogether anyway.
