Not sure - They've made a commitment to Soldado, and Adebayor is on massive wages and is now back in the 'good books.' Considering they have 3,000 midfielders - I don't know if they need more than two strikers!
I think losing Defoe actually weakens SPurs. He is their best goalscorer - and their best option off the bench to win games. Losing him is an advantage to all teams fighting with them for 1-4.
Spurs must have a pretty bulky wage bill after replacing Bale with about 5 top earners. Be interesting to see if they can afford to replace Defoe in terms of accommodating another top earner into their wage structure.
At the moment he isn't so much their best goalscorer as their only goalscorer. IMO Soldado is actually a decent player but Villas Boarse's system seems to leave him up front on his own most of the time, which isn't his game at all. Either they need to get their midfield functioning properly or they'll need to sign goals in January if Defoe does go. If I were a Spurs fan I wouldn't have much confidence in AVB getting either choice right.

Yeah, Him, Lamela and Chiriches a day or so after Willian fell through, maybe Eriksen was the fall back option though he and Lamela we constantly linked to them.
They broke around even in the summer when you add in Huddlestone, Dempsey, Caulker and others.
