Re: Barca Doing Big Things - Villa Almost Wrapped Up, Fabregas Next

If they valued Ibra at 70 million, how much would Torres be worth?

We could do very well out of the deal.
But we won't.

They've got Villa for 35m.. I'm sure they can cover that by selling Henry and Zlatan.

Another 35 for Fabregas which they can fund by selling Toure.. let's say 20m.. is that a fair price?

I'd say there's money left in the kitty if they want to get in on a bit of Torres action. If Chelsea & Man City have a serious crack, I think Barca will put their hadn up as well... and I know which of those 3 teams would worry me the most.

That saying... I don't think Torres is going to go this summer... but Barca will be in for him at some point...

La Liga is the place to be at the mo.

But if and when sterling recovers a little, the outflow may reduce.

At the mo, a lot of these players signed up when the £/€ was 1.35 +. It has recently been as low as €1.02 so they felt that they were taking a hit in earnings. Then we had the tax hike to 50% for high earners. I tink I'm right in saying that they would only pay 25% in Spain, so it was a double whammy.

I'm just waiting for our fucking useless politicians to open the doors to non EU players. They all move to Spain or Italy, whereas they can't get a work permit here. Of course, if they clung onto a trailer through the tunnel and arrived without a pot to piss in, we'd let them in. But if they have a job lined up on great money (with big tax bills) we tell 'em to feck off........

I wonder if we shouldn't try that. Ask me sometime and I'll tell you how the first Soviet ice hockey players made it to the NHL...

Just read an article that Barca are lining up a 70 million quid bid for Torres. They want to pair him upfront with Villa. Now I'm starting to wonder where they are getting all this cash from. If Torres is their next big bid and they also looking to tie up Cesc, I wonder if they are still considering Mascherano?

Right now I'm just bothered about us, so it's a bit of a relief to see overseas clubs signing the big players. Whatever effect it has on the CL in the short term, it means the likes of Chelsea aren't jumping further ahead of us by signing the TOP, most sought after players (though obviously there's time for them to do so yet).

Villa was always going to stay in Spain anyway

Barca don't play with two up front. They're not going to sign Torres. Don't worry.
They could play Villa on the left or right of a forward three - it wouldn't be the first time he's played there for club or country.

Laporta seems hellbent on signing Villa and Fabregas as symbolic of his legacy to the club (as if all the trophies aren't enough). The new president replacing him in June will likely want to add a marquee signing of his own making a Torres bid a 50/50 chance in my eyes.

If they did bid for him he'd likely go and who could blame him?

They have Iniesta as well who is a massive player and a fan favourite in his own right. Where would he play if Fabregas, Villa AND Torres came?

If Torres was to go anywhere, I'd prefer it to be Barcelona, but I just don't see it happening.

I presum it will be;

---------------Valdez-------------------

Alves-----Pique------Puyol----Abidal

--------------Busquets-----------------

---------Xavi-----------Cesc-----------

Iniesta---------Villa------------Messi

Or even;

---------------Valdez-------------------

Alves-----Pique------Puyol----Abidal

---------Busquets-------Xavi----------

Iniesta----------Cesc------------Messi

-----------------Villa---------------------

Yaya could also feature if not used as bait for Fabregas. Where does that leave Masher (IF he was to go there). I presume he would relegate Biscuits to the bench and they would deploy a similiar formation as above.

You're forgetting Pedro. He's been massive for them over the last few months and will certainly push hard for a starting place.

Thats what i think the barca team will look like next season.. or they will drop zlatan and play villa there instead and then play pedro in the other forward position

I can't see Zlatan surviving. They will probably play a person who is renowned for breaking up play, e.g. Busquets, Toure, Masher (if they sign him). Pedro might just lose out to Iniesta but they can all interchange.

Why is Clichy randomly thrown in there?

David Silva, villa's ole pal, is close to signing with Real Madrid.
I have never seen a national side first XI dominated by just two clubs. Great for Del Bosque, not so good for the rest of the league.

Casillas (RM)
Ramos (RM)
Pique (Barca)
Puyol (Barca)
Capdevila (Villarreal)
Alonso (RM)
Iniesta (Barca)
Xavi (Barca)
Silva (RM)
Villa (Barca)
Torres (Liverpool)

Because they are in the market for a new left back and they are always being linked with clichy.

Always? Haven't they got abidal and Maxwell?

Latest Barca rumor:

Arsenal want 40 mill quid for Cesc.

Barca will offer 30 mill + Marquez + Ukrainian CB (Czerighawersy - or whatever!) & Guy Assulin, a player the Gooners have been linked to for a while.
