Sums it up nicely!

Or to put it in Rodgers-speak: 'What we need at all times is what I like to call a need-based climate of reticence, which to me only means one thing: good judgement, good team spirit and a sense that what goes on behind closed doors stays behind closed doors. And that's what we do here, which is one of the things that makes this club so special, and I demand that, I really do, so if someone here sometimes fails to live up to that thing, then, well, the message ought to be clear enough'.

Rodgers seems like the kind of boss that sets down a list of expectations and then expects people to do 110% of it.

At Liverpool we don't do dirty laundry in public. It's what the club was built upon by our greatest manager.

I get what your saying but I think your being totally unrealistic. Last year we had a warts and all behind the scenes documentary, so much for keeping everything in house. Rafa had an open feud with the board for about 2 years via his weekly press conferences. Our last take over ended up in court.

Whatever the 'Liverpool Way' used to mean its not been the way the club has operated in a long time

Add this waffle to the 'Gerrard lied about giving me 150%, he's actually given me 250%' and you've got a sick bucket full of twaddle. Rodgers is doing a really good job but 'less is more'' should be his motto as far as interviews is concerned.

Indeed, we make Jeremy Kyle's guests seem reserved.

The Liverpool Way is and always has been a myth.

He may not have put it very well ( if indeed that's how he said it) but my impression of what he saying was that Sturridge couldn't train ( and so couldn't play), because of the way he was managed by England.

Or some of you are reading way to much into this, like we usually do.

Sturridge shouldnt have played 90 mins. End off. Its his responsibility aswell imho.
Nothing wrong with what Rodgers said and I dont think he has an attitude problem and I dont think he'll be a problem in the future either.

Surprise surprise the bollocks England team is ruining our players. If they're not away getting injured, they're away getting knackered, in pointless friendlies may I add.

Hodgson is a fucking cunt, we all know that, but sturridge carries the blame here for me. He knows the crack, he knows his body, if he's not fit, he needs to put his hand up and say so and not play the game, or the full game, as it's a friendly after all. If he was fit, then why does he come back not giving and arse about his club?

Rodgers needs to keep the aggro behind closed doors though, unless he knows something we dont and this is the best way to get through to him - through the press/public.

[article=http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9042559/?]Sturridge said: "For me, regardless of what condition you are in, if you are selected by the manager of England you go out there and do the best you can, regardless of whether you are injured or not.

"The manager (Roy Hodgson) gave me that opportunity and it was a pleasure to put the England shirt on.

"Fit or not fit, you go out and do your best."

However, Sturridge did admit that he needs to get the nagging injury sorted out.

"I have been hampered the last three league games since West Brom (on 26 October) when I got the bang," he said. "I've had blood underneath one of my muscles and it is still there now.

"When I shoot from long distance I still feel it, but it is getting better.

"I didn't get to train much when I was with England, I think I only trained once before the game, and I need to get the momentum going to try to get right.

"I need to make sure I am in condition to go out there and do myself justice.

"It would be great to be back in the (Liverpool) side. Fitness-willing and manager permitting, I can get back in the team and help us move up the table."[/article]

He got abuse for not playing that game a few months ago and here he was again potentially missing another big one . He was under pressure to play and prove himself (which he hasn't done for england in comparison to his club) . Even if he said he felt fit and was up for it , that fuckwit Hodgson should of had the balls to make the decision and not play him or at the very least limit his time . But it was a "big" game that england needed to do well in so he bottled it and bent over to media/fan pressure as usual.

For me Rodgers should have had a word in private with Sturridge about being sensible with his fitness and then laid into Hodgson and England in the press . But let's not kid ourselves , these people are football managers who aren't the smartest and nearly everything that comes out of their mouth is shite .

I can understand why Sturridge wanted to play. He wants to establish himself as England's no.9 and it must be frustrating when you're in great form but are constantly hampered by niggling injuries.

I don't really get why Rodgers felt the need to make things public but then I don't really care that much.

Why would you talk to the press and inflame matters further?

Well because your bosses comments have questioned your commitment to the club, but if it had been handled properly by Rodgers then Sturridge wouldn't need to reply.

On the PR disaster scale we operate on though, this registers at around a three.

We only need to start worrying if somebody breaks out a t-shirt campaign in support of someone

Is this the guy who threatened a member of a forum and acted like a complete and utter tool?

Sturridge is being a tit playing for england injured in a friendly, can't he see that. If it was the world cup final and he was the main striker, I could understand it. But fucking up your club career, getting yourself injured and playing with injuries in friendlies?!

I doubt anything said to the Press hasn't already been said at the Club face to face. Deciding to play whilst injured isn't the brightest thing he could've done for his own self let alone his club. He'll be picked for England based on his club form anyway. Better get down to training and playing and let the rest take care of itself.

He should consider he's picked for England because he now plays for Liverpool and is high profile, a little while back his career was in the doldrums.

He played for us while injured, he played for England while injured (hoping to play in the World Cup), I don't see anything wrong with either decision for a guy of his age. It's the medics and managers that let him play that are to blame. I quite like the fact that Sturridge is ambitious and keen to play every game, it's part of who he is, Suarez is similar, they will want to play as much as possible and score as much as possible too.

This will be forgotten about in a game or two when Sturridge is back playing full games for us.

He said "regardless of what condition you're in". Nothing to do with advice, which he obviously had no intention of heeding.

The boy's a tit. Wake the fuck up and listen Daniel, you can't please everybody. There's a reason you've two ears and only one mouth.
