- Sport say that the Premier League club have made it clear to the representatives of Tello that they are willing to meet his buy-out clause, of just €10m, and bring him over to Merseyside.

- Sport say that Tello's camp have used Liverpool's offer to push Barcelona for more assurances about his future. They explain that there has been no bluffing about Liverpool's intentions, that the club have genuinely made a move and Tello is not just using this as leverage with Barcelona.

- Sport are convinced that the player with continue with Barcelona for at least another year. His situation is different to that of Thiago, in that Tello has little chance of being part of the senior Spain squad for next year's World Cup in Brazil. He is yet to make his debut for the full national team, but was part of their Olympic squad last year. Therefore, the player has no great need to rush and is only 21 years old.

- Sport say that Tello has not been seduced by the offer of more minutes and more money on Merseyside. They claim 'for now' he'll continue but wants to use the Liverpool interest to negotiate a new contract.

- Tello is currently on a low wage by Premier League standards and he has been getting bonuses for games played in the first team, but hasn't had as many of those as he would have wanted, Basically, he wants more money and his camp have made Barcelona aware that Liverpool are willing to offer that and meet his buy-out clause. Barcelona in turn are on the point of offering a new contract to up his wages and change the clause, which leaves a small window for Liverpool to convince him.

- If Barcelona don't think Tello can get extra minutes next season, especially with the arrival of Neymar, then a loan deal could be something which suits the player and club, whether Liverpool would be interested in such a scenario isn't covered.

- The links go back to nearly a year ago, when there was talk of a loan deal. The Liverpool Echo were so confident that in August they said 'The deal for Barcelona winger Tello should also go through shortly, with managing director Ian Ayre having flown to Spain to finalise negotiations.'

- Article adds that we're still interested despite the signing of Luis Alberto

Sounds too good to be true. Would be the perfect replacement for Downing.

I thought he signed a new contract last summer as he only had 12 months left or something. As the article says, it's probably just trying to get him more money.

Exciting player though.

Didn't this all happen last year?

He'd be an idiot to stay as he's not playing ahead of Pedro or Neymar

Tello can piss off. Never been impressed with him. Reminds me of Baros the way he plays.

So to sum up: he's not coming and if it is, it's on loan terms which we wouldn't want. And anyhow it's just an offer to get him what he wants?

Barcelona is hard at work in an effort to lock in Cristian Tello, well aware that the player is a veritable bargain at the moment with his release clause standing at just €10 million. Zubizarreta has already met with José María Orobitg, the player's agent, to kick off talks and raise this figure.

Tello renewed his contract until 2016 back in December. At the time, he signed a release clause based on the number of games which he played. It started out at €10 million, and would have gone up to €14 million if he played 50 games and €18 million if he played 70.

However, Tello failed to reach the 50-appearance mark with the minimum stated number of minutes. He was also due to receive a financial bonus based on the same numbers, which could have been as much as €500,000.

The club and the player are looking at a number of options. One of them is for Tello to receive the €500,000 despite not having played 70 games, and his release clause would go up to €18 million. There is also talk of improving the 'Azulgrana' striker's contract, both in terms of its length and his remuneration.

The problem is that he already has three years left on his contract. Barcelona could add another two, thereby demonstrating its commitment to the player's continued presence at the Camp Nou. Tello has received juicy offers from several European sides which would be more than happy to pay his current €10 million release clause.

from what I have seen he is a bit of a kick and run merchant, however, Brendan does have a penchant for these type of players from his swansea says.
