So he looks like the first solidly linked player of the summer transfer window with reputable quotes saying we are looking to bring him in but Newcastle want Quansah in return.

I have to say the guy has pushed on since moving to Geordieland and looks like an ideal player for Slot. I'm in on this one

Quoted from the Echo:
Speaking ahead of the round of 16 clash against Slovakia, Gordon himself has now outlined what he will bring to the national team should he play in Sunday's game. And they are comments that Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes could be paying close attention to.

“I am here now and want to keep on going and establish myself in the team as someone the manager can’t drop,” he said in an England press conference. “I’m not there yet and have so much to do to get there.
“My main strengths are I am very direct, I’m obviously quick. I know I am a nightmare for anyone that I play against.

“I’m positive. Every time I get the ball, I always want to make something happen. I’m not a very safe player, I am always going for it. I am always trying to put people on the back foot.

“With players we have got – the likes of H (Harry Kane), who likes to drop deep – I think I add a different element to the team.”

The links to Gordon come amid speculation over the future of Luis Diaz, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer. Paris Saint Germain have also been credited with an interest as they search for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe.

If I were cynical about it, I'd say this snidey little cunt, has spent the last year cleaning up his act because someone has whispered in his ear that Liverpool is keen, but serious about their no dickhead policy.

If so, I applaud the commitment.

Definately cut out 80% of the divey cunt behaviour that pissed me of at the Blueshite

Hmmm - need @Beamrider on this. He moved for about £45m in Jan 23 window so 1.5 years of the contract has amortized with 2 years left to run so .... (counts ... runs out of fingers ..) I make that about £25m still on the books

So yepp, they'd make a SIGNIFICANT greater margin on selling him than any of their academy

I’d say wapping Quansah for Gordon wouldn’t be flash.

Come on now.. Milley is pure profit.

A top tier DM and CB please Edwards/Hughes otherwise we may aswell forget about next season.

Kimmich good enough for you?

My heart is set on Califiori and Ederson/Wieffer. (+ Bakayoko). Those 3 would catapult me to outta space.

But if it's for the price what Thiago came for, I'm not saying no to Kimmich. Still a top class player and he actually makes himself available.

Be pretty good if we got him tbh, especially before we sell anyone. Ideally not at the expense of quansah though.

Hope we can make a deal happen

Newcastle got mocked for spending so much on him, but it always looked a decent enough signing to me. He's got better since but it makes me fear the fee Newcastle will expect. They have to sell someone, but they'll be sufficient interest and offers for Gordon and Isak that they can pick an offer that best suits them.

I'd take Gordon for £10m-£15m more any Diaz sale. If Diaz isn't going anywhere then we shouldn't be shelling out £70m plus. The left is overly stacked as it is and the right needs a specialist.

Am out at the moment, will take a look at the numbers when I get in.
I don't want want him. He's been better for the Geordies than I thought he would be but he's still a diving shitbag. And he looks like Postman Pat.
And we shouldn't consider trading Quansah under any circumstances. That boy can be a mainstay in our defence for the next decade.

Hope we sign him. Excellent player and after seeing some interviews with him he has really grown on me. Liverpool fan as well.

he’d be perfect for newcastle. occasionally unplayable, so they’re convinced they have a superstar and he’d get ridiculous unconditional support which he apparently needs to not be a donkey
Saw the all the fawning online about his performances for Uruguay, and the fact that he scored 2 goals, but having watched the highlights, he missed a bucketload of chances and some of his passing was just off.

I really didn't see a different player at all to be honest.

We have a serious issue, even selling Diaz, we have that position covered with Gakpo who from what we are seeing in Euro and tail end of last season has his best performance on that left wing side. Sorry, I dont see the point.

Liverpool can make him a prolific striker. He would go the direction of John Aldridge, Ian Rush kind of player, if he can master te headers. He has the pace, I would wish he played the #9 he would be good competition for Darwin. Of course at the right price and nothing to do with Jarell.

Brighton have agreed to pay £30 million tp sign Minteh. Offer accepted

Newcastle safe.
No more Gordon

£40m rising to £45m with add-ons, so I'd guess about £44m paid to date (including agent fees / transfer levy).
I'd be surprised if his contract was only 3.5 years, at least 4.5 more likely.
On the basis of 4.5 years, he'd be on the books at just shy of £30m right now.
But seem to be rumours that there'll be no deal and if the Minteh deal goes through then as @Hyena says, they probably won't need to sell Gordon as well. But I stress "probably" because it's hard to tell if that will be enough to get them over the line. They might need to do both.
But Newcastle should know to a good level of accuracy how much they need to raise. Nothing happens, financially speaking, in June, so they should know what their numbers are going to look like,

He'd walk into our team and be a mainstay for donkey's years. He might look like a middle-aged lesbian, and I think that's what puts people off, but he's a top player. Better than Diaz, better than Saka (who people would cream over) etc.
Given the market, £60M would be bargain time.

Decent player and a very hard worker. But no way is he better than saka. Would offer more end product than Diaz and that's all that matters but I was hoping for a player with more trickery that can beat a man.
