But we've had a pretty nice fixture list to contend with. And been on the right end of some luck in the early part of the season.

And we've shown some of the same problems from last season still exist.

We might be in for a rocky patch that will knock us back down to 6th

United H

Villa A
Newcastle A
Swansea A

Some pretty tough fixtures out of the way there.

Well... we've played four sides in the top half. Given we're also in the top half that we're only one behind what you'd have expected us to at this stage.

But yeah, it gets a bit hairy in December.

Two of them are.

Villa and Swansea are bottom half in the league, Newcastle aren't particularly good (and they only had 10 men for the majority of the game)

I would have put Southampton as tougher opponents than those three tbh

We've not got a bad run of fixtures now until mid-December (Spurs on 15th, followed by Chelsea and City away over Christmas).

If we can kick on again starting with Fulham we might just get into the New Year still solidly in the top 4.

If we can overlook the result against the Gooners, I totally agree! We are going into the next set of games joint 2nd and we now have Coutinho back in the squad with (depending on Johnson's illness) no major injuries. A big rebound win against Fulham and our tails will be up again!

Its very rare that we have gone into games recently with anything to lose from defeat which is why I think we are hurting more from Saturday but that is also a positive - we are up there and it is *our* actions over the next couple of months will decide our own destiny!

We'd be better without Suarez too eh?

Him scoring goals against relegation fodder shouldn't overshadow the fact that there's been fuck all difference between our results with and without him.

For the record our results without him - 3 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws (in 90 mins)
With him: 3 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw.

Over the course of his LFC career our results have been better without him.

But you're perfectly entitled to jump up and down about how all those facts are irrelevant when he scores goals against crap teams.

Which is it Rosco? Were we lucky to get those wins without him? Or were we better off?

You make your own luck and it matters not how lucky we were, only that we got the 3 points.

With him we lost away to Man Utd (narrowly) and Arsenal, were unlucky to draw at Newcastle and won convincingly at Sunderland and at home to Palace and WBA.

Without him we lost at home yo Southampton, we needed the luck you mentioned before for our 3 wins (Stoke, Villa and MU) as well as struggling for a draw at Swansea and at home to Notts County (90 minutes).

I think that judging by that stats we're better with him.

But you're perfectly entitled to go on claiming that we're worse with our best player (and one of the top players in the league and probably the world).

I agree to an extent, but if you want to make any sort of forecast going forward you have to recognise the the things we're doing that are repeatable skills and what isn't repeatable.

Rosco's on a wind up - there's another way to look at it. We usually shoot ourselves in the foot with the easier fixture list. I'm going to personally enjoy the fact for once we took advantage of some dumb luck and passed the test. Now comes the tough Month - but there's no harm in that.

Well that's all irrelevant when you're talking about the fixture list, those three would have been the harder games outside of the top 5.

You can say the same about both Arsenal and Spurs fixtures so far.

Our probem has been beating the teams we are expected to beat. We're doing that now.
2 point average so far gets you a CL spot. We just need to step up against the better teams aswell.
Get through December and then add quality in the areas we're lacking.

The start to the season has been excellent point wise and we still havent clicked football wise.
The signs were there though against WBA.

The future is bright, imho.

We have been very not Liverpool-like of late when it comes to converting chances. The past Seasons we have had the most shots on goals if I am not mistaken but we often failed to capitalize.

This Season however we are often much more clinical, about 6-7 chances converted into 4 goals vs. WBA for instance.

Imo we played by far the best football during the first 45 in the first 4 to 5 games of the Season. The most fluid and possession minded so far with Coutinho being a pivotal player for us.

The intro of Suarez and the injury to Coutinho made Rodgers change approach and because of the world class talent of Suarez we have kept on adding point to the tally (with great help from Studge) however with our play hitting a downward slope imo.

I hope that we now go back to the beginning in terms of style and approach and then who knows, with both Coutinho AND Suarez firing at the same time, we could perhaps even stop playing after 30 minutes of play into the first half, being 3-nil up 🙂

This is the luck that I was referring to earlier - whether our better scoring rate per shot is down to an improvement or whether it's just a purple patch is the issue for me.

Has he scored against Utd?
Has he scored against city?
Has scored against Aresnal?
Has he scored against Everton?

Oh I'm sorry you were saying he only scores against shit teams?
And what of his assists?

Your stance on Suarez is laughable

It's not a stance.

Its a verifiable fact that our results have always been better without Suarez than with him during his time here . That fact may not sit easily with the fact that he's clearly a very talented player. I get that.

I can see he has talent, I'm not saying he's shit. What I'm saying is he probably doesn't fit into the team well. He takes too many opportunities away from others. And that's why our results are better without him.
