He has all the attributes to succeed.. Although clearly something isn't working if he's not 27 and still a bit cack..

6'4... Pacey.. Sounds ideal in a 4-4-2 with Fernando.. Yet his goals/games ratio is worse than Emile Heskeys! (Probably...)

Otherwise I'm not convinced at all. Big, strong lad however with pace. I'd love to have him in our squad to be honest but whether I'd be wanting us to splash the cash on him instead of someone better I don't know.
 
He ought to be an improvement on N'Gog, but their respective goals tallies tell a different story, which says it all. Norfolk 'n' thanks.
 
There was an amazing stat on five live last night. Apparently that was the first time he had scored two goals in a game for EIGHT years!

He's been playing top flight football for years, can play up front on his own, and is excellant in the air.

I'm not saying he is a world beater but to say he's barely better than a raw French kid is rubbish.

Cole would be a massive improvement on N'Gog.

If Cole would cost the same as N'Gog and would accept the same sort of wages, then yes, I'd be interested. But at a very minimum he'll be 6 x what we paid for N'Gog and on huge wages - which means he a waste of fucking money. 50 goals in nine years. N'Gog has managed 21 in 2.5 years.........wake the fuck up!

I liked him when he first hit the news but at 27 there's only one way his pace and his leap are going to go. I'd agree that he's got all the physical attributes to make him very good but that just goes to show how important the head is in this game. Some players just have the mentality that lets a player do what every other player wants to do - put it in the back of the net.

Carlton Cole simply isn't one of them.


Imagine what his goal return would be if he was the same body shape and speed as Fowler or RVN - 9 goals in 50 seasons?

I dispute the statement that Cole is barely an improvement N'Gog which is rubbish.
 
Liverpool made a summer deadline-day bid for the striker, who returned to form with two goals in the Carling Cup quarter-final victory over Manchester United on Tuesday, and may renew their interest next month. Other Premier League clubs, including Birmingham City and Tottenham Hotspur, have previously debated whether to move for the England international.

Cole has 2½ years left on his West Ham contract and the club would want him to agree an extension by next summer or be put up for sale. West Ham want around £10 million for Cole, who recently criticised the tactics of manager Avram Grant, only later to apologise.

The club are hoping to open contract talks with several players, whose deals expire before Cole’s, in the next few weeks.
