Some positives to take from the last two games:

Bogdan is a capable replacement for Mignolet, who's dodginess is as obvious now as it was last season as it was the season before.

Ings has the drive and energy up front we need... quality? who knows yet but I like the energy...

Just checked the league table and we are two points below Arsenal and a point above Chelsea so it's not that bad is it

It is bad. It is fucking catastrophic the way we appear. We have tons of issues, and none of them is that Chelsea had a poor start to the season.

It's sad that some so called fans actually wanted us to loose the game.

The fucking state of it. It's one thing to take the piss right now, because if you can't laugh at it, you'd cry. But the way some people have been reveling in it is just shocking. I bet once we win something again they'll be going round, telling everyone how they supported Liverpool football club through thick and thin, when in actual fact they've just acted like twats the whole time.

welcome back! 1st like from me - now get posting and join the asylum!

Thanks! It's been a loong time since I last logged in. When the whole Gary Speed thing happened was the last time. So.. As for the game..not good enough obviously. Playing a strong team in an early round of the league cup is a gamble. Motivation is always an issue and once things don't go to plan everything is rushed and players start to panic. Playing the youngsters and reserves would have made more sense for squad morale.

You can't look at it that way. You can only look at how we are playing. We play shit. Is there any signs that we will start to play much better because only better isn't enough? Do the manager make the players better? You saw yesterday that the players really didn't believe that they would win. No confidence at all. No fighting spirit at all.

You also have to look at the last few months last season. If Mourinho or Wenger would get the same results as us and play as bad as us for the last six months or so then they would almost guaranteed be sacked. We haven't scored more than one goal in a game in something like 150 days.

Yes we dominated the game but did we create that many clear cut chances? The answer is no. A lot of good luck finishes.

If we drop points against Villa then we could be involved in a relegation battle for months. The celebration after the PS said it all. A lot of pressured players that can't cope with the pressure. They know that hell is just around the corner and every little positive result counts, even against a shit team after a PS.

I do feel slightly sorry for Rodgers. He was given a job way above his station but let's face it he was never going to turn it down. FSG are the bigger worry. You can excuse them for appointing him. They had a vision and quickly dropped it to accommodate Rodgers. Put it down to inexperience, naievity. They should have got a footballing man in to run the club, not this Mike Gordon fella. They should have relieved Brendan of his duties in the summer. Now we have a situation where the owners are split and it's prolonging the manager's agony.

When Rodgers goes, it's inevitable now, they've got to make their biggest decision yet. If they don't get it right the club and FSG will be in trouble.

Then surely you don't want Klopp after Dortmund's relegation battle last year until Jan or so ...

Klopp turned it around. They got a EL place. They also had a lot of injuries to key players and it was his first bad season the last decade or so, inlcuding Mainz.

Rodgers first season was shit, his second excellent, his third shit, his fourth so far shit. Do you see a pattern?

I will always allow a manager one bad season out of three. Never three in four. I will always give a manager three seasons if he delivered in at least one of them. Klopp have delivered excellent fantastic results a long time. Winning the league twice and one CL final. He is allowed one bad season but he saw that he couldn't take them any further. He decided to leave, he put the team before himself. He saw that they needed a new manager.

He is one of the very few managers that will always put the team first.

The basic human story now is just sad - a bloke with some real talent seems to have buckled under the pressure and just can't think properly any more. It's painful to watch. Most of what he's done that's been irritating has been understandable - over-promoted in the first place, he began by talking himself up, then was so exhilarated by his success that he succumbed to the temptation to revel in it a bit, and now, as it's all gone wrong, he's a shattered man with nothing but empty words in his wake. The blame for me is on FSG, and they're the ones who merit plenty of criticism for leaving him to it while they concentrate on baseball in Boston. The least they can do for the guy is to make this as dignified as possible so that he can go away and rebuild his reputation somewhere more suitable, and let us start to recover.

Mate - lovely to see an actual post from you on the subject rather than another one-liner.

For me you are one of the biggest disappointments on SCM because surely you are too bright to be that repetitive?! I think we have more than enough simpletons (Hauge and Skullfucker etc) here and there is no need for the likes of you and @judgejules and other good posters to join in...? Yes, we are shite right now. Yes, he will probably go. All there is left is to discuss the timing but haven't we flogged that horse enough?

We all want the same thing so couldn't you all give it a rest with the "Rodgers is Shite" agenda? It's just not what we need right now.

Some very interesting stuff from Graham Beecroft on TalkSh!te this morning. First of all he said Rodgers survived the summer only on a split decision. Then, without coming straight out and saying Ancelotti was FSG's first choice to replace him now, he suggested he didn't believe the club's denial that contact had been made, and he said straight out that "Jurgen Klopp will not be the next Liverpool manager".

If you give him 3 seasons if he delivered in one, shouldn't you give him this season? As you say, 2nd season was excellent (though that was Suarez in hindsight)

You have no idea why Klopp left - you're just making assumptions (which may be right or wrong) based on your respect for his excellent work.

The one liners are borne out of utter frustration and bewilderment. I don't hate Rodgers, he's just out his depth. I'd never want us to lose to get rid of him because if we're winning....well we're winning.

Rodgers will be gone and gone pretty soon. The next worry is FSG appointing someone decent and putting a sound structure in place.

Well we can't pin the entire blame on FSG either because they have provided the funds.

How much access Brodge has to it is an altogether different matter. My suspicions tell me that there's something wrong with the transfer committee.

Hmm, interesting. Beecroft does actually have some strong contacts, both red & blue in the city. Fingers crossed!

It feels pretty bleak right now. Its no where near the levels we reached during Hodgsons era.

I still think Rodgers can do this, i like the bloke and hope he succeeds. Im certainly mpre hessitant about the prospect of an old italian with a record with managing leagues' best sides coming in to replace him but heyho

See the Ancelotti thread, mate. I respectfully disagree and think he's the outstanding candidate by a street. He's also only 56 BTW.
