He said that Henry and Werner wanted to sack Rodgers but Gordon and Ayre wanted to keep him.
The biggest mistake FSG made was buckling under and giving into Rodgers demands about working with a Dof.
Rodgers is a talented manager and coach and could have focused on just that with the proposed set up.
Instead we've bought loads of average players for a shitload of money and have a manager clearly out of his depth.
Shame we didnt go for an older Dof that Rodgers could have learned from and focused on the coaching side.

I'm guessing both Rodgers and FSG are regretting that now.

Its invietable that he'll be gone now. He looks a doomed man and makes baffling decisions.
The club is in a downward spirral and the rott is deep into the core.
We need an experienced winner. Someone who can come into the dressing room and get the players attention and have them running through a brick wall. There is no fight in the players today and that is clearly down to Rodgers being all over the place.

Ancelotti would be excellent but I have my doubts to FSG finally getting it right.
Sadly it could be AVB or someone like that. Just hope I'm wrong and that they go all out to get the right manager and right set up and finally learn from their mistakes.

According Gary Macallistar.

We showed 'Character' to get through that tie last night...

Even Brentismns are rubbing of our legend Gary Mac... Aaaaaaaaargh

It feels pretty bleak right now. Its no where near the levels we reached during Hodgsons era.

I still think Rodgers can do this, i like the bloke and hope he succeeds. Im certainly mpre hessitant about the prospect of an old italian with a record with managing leagues' best sides coming in to replace him but heyho

There is a reason they are best!

You could argue that when the underdogs take you to penalties that it would take some character to go through. Yes.

What did you expect him to say exactly ?

Good post. Would make only a few comments on it:

1. I'd be surprised if Rodgers regrets turning down the idea of a DOF. He strikes me as the kind of guy who would always want to stand or fall by his own decisions alone. On the other hand I'd be equally surprised if FSG don't have regrets, either about the DOF issue or about appointing Rodgers in the first place.

2. The lack of spirit is primarily Rodgers' responsibility but I don't think he carries the whole of the blame. The players should have more pride in their own performances than they've been showing (some still do, Ings for one, so it is still possible) and I'm starting to wonder if we've bought a number of players who don't have the bottle to match their skill.

3. Surely to goodness the owners won't go for AVB after his history in the Prem. Fortunately I suspect he himself would be reluctant to return to English football [he says with fingers, toes and bo11ocks firmly crossed].

My thoughts exactly. I think AVB is a good shout – not in that I think he's going to be a success, but meaning that someone like him certainly knows how to bamboozle and win over the corporate types. Rodgers does as well, that's why he got the job.

Agree with JJ though, I don't think Rodgers regrets not giving up some power and influence. In his mind it's probably him having too little power (i.e. having to work with transfer committee) was to blame for most of the problems.

I suppose I was quite lucky due to the fact that I moved to Spain the summer Rodgers took over and lived there all through his first season. I didn't see any of his press conferences and I didn't see any of that Being Liverpool shite. But the man is full on David Brent. I think I would have hated him from the off.

You might have been surprised. His early press conferences were actually quite good - he didn't bullsh!t nearly as much, and seemed far more at home doing them than he has since. I'm uncomfortably reminded of Rafa, how good he was with his initial public comments and how badly his performance in this area went downhill as time passed.

You're probably right about Rodgers. He seems to full of himself to regret anything.
The players must surley take some blame but the whole squad seems so unfocused and lost.
We make good solid players look ordinary. And there seems to be no tactical plan at all.
We've turned Milner and Clyne to average in the last games. Its just weird.
You just feel that several of our players are just waiting to get the shackles off and start playing.
If someone set up the team and tactics to play to this squads strenghts we'd be a pretty good team I reckon.

AVB shouldnt happen. I certainly hope it wont.
But he's out of contract in June and I read somewhere that FSG like him.

It doesnt matter what he says, it matters that he cant play a tune.
Thats the problem.
Loads of managers talk utter cunt but their fans buy it because they win games, if they dont then they look inept and stupid.

Mr Rodgers looks fucked to me because the players dont look like they give a shit. They can fucking play football but they dont believe in him. I cant see that changing.

Oh fuck.
Im sorry Pete I didnt mean any of it.
🙁

Not you of course, I'd had about 8 pints last night after watching that shite and made the stupid mistake of logging in. Its fucking depressing enough without reading some of the crap on here.

On a lighter note, I tried to make Cheese on Toast at midnight, left the grill on, and nearly burnt the house down. Hurrah!

Yeah, never sure why some get so fixated on media performance etc.

All that really matters is results, and after that performances.
