Nothing wrong with what Roy said but do it in private. You don't address players through the media.

He was quick to defend Poulsen saying that he's not shite, well Johnson at his worst so far is still better than Poulsen.

One of the worst Rafa's transfers.
We badly needed a striker and he splashed £35M+ on Aquilani and Johnson. Criminal
Biggest reason why we are where we are now.

I thought Johnson would be good for us and I didn't know anything about Aquilani when he signed. I suspect most people were in the much the same position.

Those that knew Aquilani said he was a good player.

I don't think signing two players who didn't or haven't worked out as we'd hoped is a criminal act. I seriously doubt that our current position has anything to do with signing these players.

Whilst we do need a backup striker and have done for sometime, using some sort of weird logic to lay all our problems at the door of one man is daft. Get a grip.

On the subject of the thread, we all know that Johnson can be a good player so it's up to him to get himself in the right shape to perform to his best.

Maybe he's tried the arm round the shoulder in private then when that didn't work the bollocking in private and this is now the last resort.

Sheiky, a last resort would be to do what WHU did with Benni McCarthy to get him into shape.

Set weight loss and other targets, failing that put fines in place. Magic may well have lifestyle problems but I would be mystified if the club doesn't have some type of performance clauses and disciplinary procedures in place.

Roy has to deal impartially with all the players whether he likes them or not.

He isn't overwieght though?

He looks lean and muscular in all the recent photo's I have seen of him

Roy and his management, I never realised he's such a mad cnt and a sh1t manager. Already has embarressed himself with picking a fight with Rafa and guess this is the next episode. He likes to pick apart injured players. We all want a team Poulsons and Koncheskys.

I simply hate his style of management.
But you would know very little about his dealings with the players tbf.
You may not like his tone in the media, his tactics on the pitch but none of us here know how the players relate to him.

Exactly, he's got us playing just the way he wants, like Fulham... but without the goals

Bullshit. We sold Aebeloa & Alonso so we needed a rb and cm. The issue was that all the revenue from the sales wasn't released in order to replace those players.

Had we not signed Johnson, degen would have been our only recognized rb.

Asbo, look at Magic a month ago. He was carrying excess weight. Now if his problems stem from his lifestyle, my point is there must be an acceptable code of conduct for players and disciplinary code to deal with such matters.

I know much as you about his dealings but what he does in public I know and I can judge him on that which if you read my post my posts above is all I can do and no matter how much you defend him, he is simply awfull.

Glen Johnson slams Hodgson's 'boring' tactics and wants to leave Liverpool

By Joe Bernstein Last updated at 10:17 PM on 13th November 2010

England international Glen Johnson wants to leave Liverpool in January after a total breakdown in his relationship with manager Roy Hodgson.

The right-back is said to be outraged by the way Hodgson is alleged to have handled his injury problems this season and the public criticism he received from his manager on Friday.

Seeing red: Glen Johnson has fallen out with Roy Hodgson

The player's representatives will meet new director of football strategy, Damien Comolli, this week to make it clear the £18million England man has no faith left in Hodgson's 'boring' style of play.

Johnson's team will also claim the boss rushed the defender back from a groin injury, leading to further setbacks.

'Things have moved rapidly downhill for Glen since Roy arrived,' said a source. 'He finds the style of football boring and the way he was criticised by the manager in public was uncalled for. He was made to train too soon with a groin injury and it's kept him out for longer than it should have done.'

Johnson, signed by Liverpool's former boss, Rafa Benitez, is prepared to quit English football to end his association with Hodgson. Bayern Munich are monitoring the situation, but if Liverpool progress from the Europa League he would not be able to play for the German giants in this season's Champions League.

Showdown talks: Johnson's representatives will meet new director of football strategy, Damien Comolli

Johnson missed four games in October with a groin injury but was picked by Hodgson for the Europa League win over Napoli on November 4.

However, the problem has recurred, causing him to miss Liverpool's past three games and ruling him out of England's friendly against France on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old, hailed as the missing piece in Liverpool's title jigsaw when he arrived from Portsmouth last year, is believed to be furious at the way Hodgson rounded on him in a press conference on Friday.

It is unusual for managers to criticise their players so directly but Hodgson pulled no punches as he said: 'To be frank, he has not performed up to now to the level I would expect of him. You would have to ask him the question, "Do you think you are playing at top form and are you playing like the best right-back in the country for your club?" If he says yes, we will have to agree to differ. And if he says No, then you have to ask the question, why not?'

The fall-out with Johnson marks the start of a critical period for Hodgson, with Comolli ready to take on a more front-line role in player recruitment after being appointed by Liverpool's new owner, John W Henry, of New England Sports Ventures. Comolli is to host meetings with agents this week and also plans to publicly outline his role at the club.

Things just get from bad to worse..
i wouldn't say this is necessarily awful. High earner shipped out, hopefully for a decent sum. All the while we get a competent fullback who can defend

I can't be arsed defending players any more. The majority of them are overpaid, under performing, delusional cunts. No one is indispensible. People need to stop making excuses for them (which I realise I have done with Fernando before by the way).

Sell him.

Quite. Instead of crying about defensive tactic, why not try working on the aspect of the game you're shit at? Johnson has the potential to be fantastic, yet i fear his attitude makes him believe he already is

Whilst I agree with every point you've made there, his complaints are grounded in truth (as far as I can tell).

Hodgson should not be openly criticising him and questioning his application a day after praising Poulson, His tactics are the archetype of boring and Johnson did pick up a further groin injury after coming back too soon.

I agree he shouldn't do one thing for one person and another for something else, but rather than defending both I'd rather he just said Poulsen was fucking shite too 😉

I bet he says nothing in training and then just pussies out and whinges to the press.

He's such a wet old fart

We would have seen a different GlenJo in the past few games when we played "attacking football".

It's hard to criticize him, when he was playing in those defensive shite football (like the one yesterday), the whole team didn't play well in those games anyway.

He's been unfit, slow and he looks like he coldnt be arsed to do anything.

He rarely ventures forwards and he doesnt even close down attackers.

It's shocking how so many on this keep harping on our shit tactics as being the reason he's shit.

If we brought in the sexy manager with the scintillating attacking football we keep yammering about, Johnson will still be shit if his form and fitness don't improve.

He's been poor this season, but so have many others. It's just another cock up by the old budgie faced twat.

The whole team has suffered when we played that kinda shite tactics this season. When we were playing the "attacking football", even Lucas and Konchesky looks decent for us.

It's not rocket science.

Yeah,ok.

Will someone who's actually watched a match and saw Johnson jogging around explain it better than I have?

... but isn't it Roy's philosophy to defend deep and not press the opposition, but instead remain in formation.

Roy kind of reminds me of that old X-Wing pilot in Star Wars that was forever telling his wing-men to "stay on target" despite getting blasted to buggery by Vader & his wing men.

...."they came through the midfield... it's all up to you Fernando"...

Actually... come to think of it... Maxi looks like one of the cnuts in the cantina... and Gerrard has be so "Han Solo" for us. The Greerk does look like Chewie and on poresent form Glenjo could be Jabba the Hutt.

Roy's no fucking Yoda though.....

Back to my wine & beer..... *sniff*
