Klopp's worst game. Picked a shite side, even though some were supposedly 'rested' and ready, reacted rather than anticipated, changed it too late and brought on a player because of what he could do when fully fit rather than when clearly not fully fit. Shambolic effort by all involved, but the buck stops with the manager and he really needs to make sure a performance that stupid doesn't happen again. The next game will be against a West Ham desperate to make up for its own awful performance, they'll be in a fierce mood and if we get mugged again then something's seriously up.

Origi should be starting against West Ham - you don't get dropped after scoring 3 goals in 3 games, unless of course goal scoring isn't what you want from a striker?

I wouldn't put Woodburn in against West Ham - they'll kill him.

But if Klopp wants to stick to 4-3-3, we will struggle as we don't have the necessary players. I'd go 4-4-2 with Origi/Studge, with Firmino behind them.

Clearly there are more direct contributors to the fuckups yesterday (Lovren, Karius, poor defending from Milner, collective shitness of defensive organisation in our own box).... but I just dont 'get' our midfield.

Yep I don't get how they're getting a pass. IMO, when Klopp said we stopped playing football I think he was talking about our midfield.
We weren't pressing towards the end of the game, they didn't close down players nearly enough.
But the loss is mostly on Klopp, he should have seen that Bournmouth were gaining momentum after their 2nd goal and got Klavan on. Maybe move Lucas to DM.

Would agree except Lucas was ok so a 6, Wijnaldum should have closed down the shot that won the game so although he played well he is a 6, Origi brilliant goal hideous miss poor defensive work he should be a 6 and Firmino was very good as certainly not a 4, obviously he is your boot boy, but he deserved a 7 afaic

I love Firmino and am a firm supporter Tony, however he doesn't enjoy playing on the left and nothing really owrked out for him yesterday. His usual hard work so maybe a 5 is fair.

I think you've pretty much repeated everything I said - inc. Klavan on and pushing Lucas into midfield.

This should end the misguided experiment of playing Lucas as a centre back, Lovren is not the same player on the left side and surely to god a proper defender aka Klavan should have played there. We threw 3 valuable points away with the sort of sloppy complacent lazy display that I thought was behind us.

Que ? Lovren always plays on the left side and is worse on the right. Thank God we normally have matip on the right. Our problem is we actually have 4 (inc. Sakho & Lucas) LCBs and only one true RCB. Gomez will hopefully become a second.

at 2-3 we went into our shell and went from defending smartly (as we have in previous games) to just trying to sit back and put bodies in the way. As has been mentioned - many errors resulting in the lead up to the goals. Frustrating game, just hope we bounce back big time. Chelsea are looking unstoppable, and we need to do what we can to remain part of the breakaway with Arsenal as City are faltering and not allow Spurs back into the Top 4 group..

Chelsea were lucky vs. City, they could easily have been 3 or 4 down before they scored (horrendous miss by De Bruyne from 3m out). City fans must today be feeling the same way we are.

Chelsea look the part sadly and dont look weak enough to get caught out with that system either . Conte keeping big players out and keeping players like Moses in, he will take some stopping. Top 4 is a must for us and we move from there . Klopp has some work on his hands regarding the defense and he knows it. I bet he brings someone in from the prem league in jan.

Does he know it? He didn't sign a LB, and seems to think Lucas is an adequate option to play at CB in the Premiership, plus his goalkeeping decisions have been a bit odd. I'm also certain that we should have signed another holding midfielder.

Matip has been a success on the evidence so far, and Milner has been very good at LB, but I'd struggle to say he knows exactly what this defence needs, because we still have one of the worst defences in the top half of the Premiership, and he's been here for a year.

Well, there has been written abit about him and he's young. Its easy to understand why they did it.

Will be interesting to see how he responds. Klopp has instructed his scouts apparently that mentality is one of the biggest attributes they're looking for.
If Karius uses this to develop then that will be a good thing obviously.

Chelsea are a good team .. but that shouldn't disguise the fact they could and should have lost to City. Had KdB put it in the net from 3m out (as Origi from the same) then at 2-0 and with City still the only team creating real chances, it's likely they would have gone on to win. Ditto us - or if Milner's corner had carried 2cms more to make it 4-1. Hence their fans will be feeling similar to us .. regret at a great chance for 3 points wasted.

Well if Klopp had had his way both DaHoud and Pulisic would have joined us last Summer. Ditto that young LB. It's not as if we didn't try. What a difference that would have made to squad depth.

Jurgen Klopp has taken his Liverpool squad on a two-day bonding trip to Barcelona.

The Reds flew straight to Catalonia following Sunday’s dramatic 4-3 defeat to Bournemouth.

Klopp believes that escaping the freezing temperatures on Merseyside will benefit his players as the focus turns to next Sunday’s home clash with West Ham.

The manager prides himself on the unity and spirit in the squad and sees the trip as an opportunity to strengthen that further.

Monday is a recovery day for the squad with a team meal organised for the evening. On Tuesday the Liverpool squad will train in the city - where the temperature is around 17 degrees - before going to the Nou Camp to watch Barcelona’s Champions League clash with Borussia Monchengladbach.

There will be a reunion with former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, who is expected to feature for the hosts. Luis Enrique’s side have already won Group C with Gladbach assured of a Europa League spot in third.

The Liverpool squad will then fly home on Wednesday to continue their preparations for the visit of the Hammers.

This ones purely on Klopp, sure it's the players that capitulated, but it's the manager responsibility to make sure that the team doesn't have the backbone of a delicately restored 16th century painting. The last few games I'd foolishly let myself believe this flaw in our team was finally resolved, but all it took was a couple of our key players to be missing and it returned in its pathetically embarrassing full glory.

We need to learn how to manage games better it's simple, this isn't an issue of technique or quality, it's a question of mentality, we stop playing when we think we've won games against lesser teams (which I suppose is an improvement from the past when we wouldn't even start), and that shit loses you titles in this league.

I said we wouldn't go top of the league again this season. aside from the fact I told you so, it's because I thought we were due a couple of games like this over our 'easy' run in til Christmas. when was the last time a top team threw away a lead like that? the last I can remember is arsenal throwing a four nil lead to Newcastle many many years ago. there's no spin you can put on what happened yesterday. we're not winning the league and we will have to push very hard to get in the top four imo. the issue with that is that I fully expect being in the champions league next year will spread us too thinly. oh well.
