Bony is boss

Fuck me, tough crowd. Bony is a bloody good player. I'm sure some people expect us to be signing Falcao, Cavani, Zlatan, Rodriquez etal, you know, the people that wouldn't entertain coming to us as we're not glamorous enough or don't have oil baron owners that can pay them 300k a week.
People need to wake up, we're in the market for players around the 20mill mark, not the 60-80mill mark. And as far as 15-20mill strikers go, Bony is pretty good.

How are Arsenal in the market for £35-£50 million players but we're not? Fuck me, we're massive, we're back in the CL, we very nearly won the league playing amazing attacking football, we have a reputation around the world. Arsenal have London.

i thought it was sanchez or bust from the start. can't see us getting anyone who i won't be a bit ambivalent about now.

I agree. We're buying more in hope than expectation again. why can't we have some balls and buy a serious, proven world class talent? I just don't get it. I do think that expecting a player from France or Spain or wherever to move to where our club is geographically if a tough sell compared to London for these fucking dandies, but for once I'd like us to just say fuck it and bring in someone who is a superstar.

Sean, it's not like we didn't try with Sanchez, people rewrite history straight away as though we haven't bothered.

I'd love people to point to this superstar that they think we'll have a chance on. We don't need any Juve midfielders, Rodriguez is going Real in next year or so, the people clambering for Di Maria have likely only seen him in the odd cl game (otherwise they might think £40M can be better spent), and is that what Sanchez is anyway, a genuine world class star? Great player, but I'm not sure Arsenal have got a 'deal' there.

Arsenal have London and the fact that they have qualified for the CL for 14 years in a row which the players oddly seem to value more than winning stuff.

I wonder if we can send Aspas to Swansea and bring the deal down to £12m, that would make this easier to deal with.

They've got a £100m budget and about 3 positions to spend it on.

We've got maybe £160m and at least 8 positions to fill, because our squad is almost non-existent.

A little bit of division and you have your answer.

Its not as if we didnt try for Sanchez.
Does it really matter if we're paying 25 mill or 35 mill? Most important thing is getting the right players.

Take your Arsenal shite out of my Bony is boss thread please.

Bony is a good player and as said, 19M is not a bad price at all.

The main question mark is how he fits in. I can't quite believe we're going to be buying a 20M striker to sit on the bench so there must be a plan for him to play more often than not. That means it's either a case of Sturridge out wide or two up top.

Yeah, whilst he's a decent player, I worry that he's as good as he's gonna get. Now we need players who are going to be, if not already, world class. The CL gives us the platform to attract them. We just need to make sure we identify them.

And to be fair, even if he doesn't improve

Fucking 20+ goals a season striker. I'd be happy if he kept that form for the rest of his career. He'd go down as a legend

The thing is he's scored all those goals as the main man, the focal point, of the attack.

Here we've got Sturridge and a much more prominent supporting cast. He could continue to score at the same rate. He could also find it difficult to find himself.

I'm not having this AM business so where how does he fit in? Simple rotation? Two up top? Sturridge out wide?

Simple rotation for me. Competition for places between 2 equally talented and prolific strikers

Exactly.

It seems far too many people are thinking about how he is going to fit into the team but that would be the case with any striker we buy. People seem to be happy to say splash the cash and go for a £30-40-50m player but the issues both for and against remain the same.

However fact is we have only 2 senior strikers. Yes just two. How on earth does anyone expect us to challenge on 4 fronts with just two. One injury and we are truly fucked. We need at the very least 3 strikers so getting Bony/Remy in shouldn't even be an argument.

It's not buying a striker that is prompting questions but the type of striker.
