Salah: Basel 'laughed' at Liverpool transfer offer before Chelsea move

In January Chelsea made changes to their squad to suit the more industrious and functional style of play that Jose Mourinho craves - whilst letting the more precocious options leave.
The end result was the departures of Juan Mata and Kevin De Bruyne - and the arrivals of Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah.
In the case of the latter, Chelsea stole him from underneath the nose of a Premier League rival.
In the summer they snatched Willian from the grasp of Tottenham Hotspur - in January it wasLiverpool’s turn to feel the pickpocketing effects of The Blues.
For much of the winter it looked as if Liverpool were on the verge of snapping up the Egyptian - and reportedly even agreed a £13.5 million fee for the player.
But Chelsea than swooped in and signed him up - much to reaffirm the smugness of Jose Mourinho.
Brendan Rodgers was disappointed with the deal -stating:
"The club did everything they felt they possibly could to get a deal but it wasn't to be… It was deemed in this case that we couldn't do a deal and Chelsea could. So the boy has gone there. That's something that is out of my control. We can identify the players that we want to bring in and we hope we can get them in... If they end up going to another club that is difficult to take…”
And now Salah - who scored his first goal for the club last weekend in the 6-0 win against Arsenal has spoken about the move.
He told beIN Sports:
“Liverpool is a great and important team and I cannot say anything bad about it. But their football manager came out and said that it was an issue of money and that Chelsea bid more.”
“Negotiations opened with Liverpool in October and I waited until January and did not hear from them. I cannot declare how much they offered in October, perhaps the Basel management can provide such information, but they laughed when they received that offer.”
Chelsea then made their move in a deal believed to be worth £11 million - and the rest, as they say, is history.
--------------------------
Now I'm not sure if Salah ever was the right player for us, but seriously we need to stop fucking around when it comes to transfer dealings.
OK, we're probably on a tight budget and we don't want to waste any money *cough* Alberto, *cough* Aspas, but this is getting ridiculous.
Mkhitaryan, Willian, Salah, Konolyanka....how many failed transfer do we need to have before they start doing things differently.
