Plus his own image rights.

Balotelli wage demands could scupper City deal
By Harry Harris, Football Correspondent
August 4, 2010

Mario Balotelli is demanding an astonishing £180,000-a-week plus image rights to sign for Manchester City from Inter Milan, according to a well placed Soccernet source.

Mario Balotelli: The teenager is making big demands

The striker, who turns 20 in a few days time, values himself highly and is clearly keen to take advantage of City's renowned wealth and ability to pay out higher salaries than most clubs.

But the club are baulking at Balotelli's demands, according to a Soccernet source close to the deal, who said: "I have heard the figure of £180,000-a-week, and when he was asked whether that would include his image rights, his representatives said no.

"We all know City are paying well over the odds in transfer fees and salaries, but this is an enormous salary for the player.

"If the sum being demanded is accurate, then it is stupid money, and you can see why City are not paying it, because there are some really big established international stars in their team who would be raising an eyebrow and asking for more money for themselves.

"In my view this is the reason for the hold up in the talks, because Inter also want a massive fee, so the total investment is just huge."

With the Inland Revenue also looking very closely at image rights any club must be very careful about signing any player which such add-ons to their contracts - another reason why City may be wary about accepting such demands.

I hope City get him for those wages. What a cunt he is. 20 years old and thinks he is worth 180 grand a week. If I were in charge of city I'd tell him to go fuck himself.

I'd offer him an upgrade to 180 k a week contingent on him scoring 25 goals in his first season and not being a cunt in the media at some point. Guaranteed not to happen.

Another greedy bellend then. I hope he rots on an island somewhere, preferably with that other greedy twat with ideas above his station, Insua.

That is a good point, which in my initial outrage at his cuntiness, I overlooked.

This will be the reason we keep Mascherano.

Beat me to it.

This isn't good news, IMO.

City will probably pay up in the end. 150k for Silva and 220k for Yaya, then 180k for him isn't uheard of.

City have shot themselves in the foot with this wage fantasy structure.

Possibly related to why the club was sold to the Americans several years ago.

What are City going to do when this wage structure in proportion with club profitability rule comes in? Won't they be fucked?

20 years old and he's demanding £180,000 a week ..

Tell him to go Fu*k himself and rafa will ruin him and play him left back..

I don't believe City players are on that much money. There is no way on earth Yaya Toure is getting paid 220K a week.

and if he is, well, credit to him. Average footy player, decent tackler, good engine, average passer and he's making more money than TOrres or Gerrard.

There's no 'credit' involved there. It's fucking sick if that cunt is earning more than Gerrard or Torres, and encapsulates all that is wrong about football

I'm sorry, I don't agree. I do agree that it's 'what's wrong with football,' but that doesn't mean him can be given credit for milking the system for all it's worth. I take almost 10 years to make what he makes in a week ... Crazy, eh?

Yes, Yaya Toure has gone there for the sporting challenge
Well the sporting challenge will probably involve getting into the CL and winning things in the near future.

Either way, that's not the point. Obviously they're on high wages but 200k+ sounds like a hugely exaggerated figure to me.

Even though we're involved in a takeover bid, the sooner some regulatory conditions around ownership, spend ability & wages are in place, the better.

greedy cunt but city can pay it so why not.
Because they will have another 11 players knocking the door asking why the hell the 19 y o reserve is earning twice their wages. It will cause unrest. And in the end they will be shuffing out cash which will alone lift UK out of the finance crisis by the tax revenue. Thereafter they will not be allowed to play in Europe as the club aint self financed. Not to hard to figure out why not?

if this happens atleast it's another 90k a week for revenue & customs.....
Regards to Balotelli demanding so much, so what, City have allowed this to happen by paying so much, why else would any player come to City? For Manchester?, Champions league??
If I was him, I would do the same, and next year he will be replaced by even more expensive player so he really only has a year in the team.

Not bad this for the government, more foreign money being pumped into our economy. No wonder they allow foreign ownership so keenly... 😉

It's more like Torres and Gerrard

Is that list even correct?, If Torres is reportedly on 120k a week then surely would mean around 8-9 million and he's not even on the list.
