.... or so it is rumoured.

Liverpool winger Ryan Babel could be loaned out to Bayern Munich with a view to a £9m permanent switch next summer.

Babel is unhappy with his lack of action at Anfield this season and has constantly claimed he needs to be playing first-team football if he is to make the World Cup with Holland next summer.

The winger went public with his thoughts last week and boss Rafa Benitez is said to be fuming with his comments. Reports now claim Bayern will take him on loan when the January window opens with a permanent deal also lined up for the summer.

An Anfield source has been quoted as saying: "Rafa has totally blanked Babel since his outburst. He understands some of his concerns but has made it clear to the player more than once he will only play who he believes to be his strongest XI and won't budge.

"Rafa cannot give Babel the assurances he needs with the World Cup coming up so he will let him go if he's not happy. The manager's only concern with this is that he won't be getting any money to improve the squad from the move."

just get him away from the squad.. Poor mentality and attitude.

German League is the highest scoring league in the world and VERY attacking based.. should suit him well so as a long term solution Loan to buy is probably ideal...

however.. its a lose lose situation for Rafa... He either makes a huge financial loss if Babel plays like shite for Bayern.. If he plays well and impresses fans will on Rafa's back for not keeping him. Im afraid Rafa has already failed misrably with this signing and the only good conclusion for the club would be a higher transfer fee received

Fair enough.

So Bayern, eh? Would be an odd move given that they have Robben, Ribery and Schweinstiger.

Have they got injury problems or has Robben bombed since doing well to begin with?

Ribery will surely be on his way in the Summer ... so makes sense to settle Babel in early.

I think they want him as a striker in case Toni should fuck off to Italy again.

If they lose Ribery and gain Babel, I think Bayern's football forums will be forced to roll out "new" posting guidelines within a month.

Haha.

I doubt we'll see £9M. Clubs who are willing to take a player on loan will say any old shit to get the player on a free for 6 to 12 months. "Sure we'll pay you £40M, trust us". Pfft.

It doesn't help Babel who wants to play more though.

Something tells me that if a loan deal is agreed with a fee to buy in the summer, then Purslow won't allow a team to get out of it like Parry did with Villa and Carson.

We might hope to fuck thats the case like, but if they offer £6M i think we'd bite their hands off.

I think he has a better chance o play as a striker in Munich than to play as a winger in Liverpool.

we should try to get lahm to be included in the deal as our left backs are either crap or made of glass.

Yes please. Insua+Babel for Lahm. Wouldn´t be good for our squad depth but what the hell...the season is over anyway.

Do spurious swap deals like this ever happen other than in the mind of internet message board fans?

Bayern Munich have played down reports suggesting they are lining up a bid for Ryan Babel.

The Liverpool forward is far from happy with life at Anfield and has made his feelings known to boss Rafa Benitez.
Babel's time on Merseyside looks to be coming to end and a number of clubs have been linked with a move for him in January.

Bayern were one of the clubs said to be keen on the Dutchman, but their director of sport Christian Nerlinger has denied any interest.

"I do(sic) know anything about it," he told Liga Total.

"If I do(sic) not know anything, you can easily assume there is no truth in this link."

Does two of the worlds best strikers swapping clubs in the summer ring any bells?

Bayern would be mental to let Lahm go for Babel. Never in a million years would it be even a possibility.

Bayern dismiss Babel link
(UKPA) – 1 hour ago
Bayern Munich director of sport Christian Nerlinger has rubbished rumours linking his club with a bid for Liverpool forward Ryan Babel.
The Dutchman is reportedly one of Bayern coach Louis van Gaal's targets this winter, should he still be in charge of the Bavarian club, but Nerlinger denies there is any interest.
"I don't know anything about it and so you can take it for granted that there is no truth in it," he told the German Telekom's Liga total television channel.
Since Bayern are likely to sell striker Luca Toni this summer, a new forward to replace him is one of Van Gaal's targets, but it is unlikely Babel would be keen on a transfer if it meant he would still be sitting on the bench.
With Mario Gomez, Miroslav Klose, Ivica Olic and Thomas Muller, Van Gaal already has plenty of options in his attack, which is why World Cup winner Toni is so keen to leave and find first-team football elsewhere.
"I'm glad the transfer market is opening soon," he told Italy's Rai television.
"I am a key part of this club as far as the fans and the club is concerned, but he (Van Gaal) prefers a different kind of player.
"There are a few clubs in Italy who I like."

Yes, that was a bit mental. Not exactly a common occurence for top players though is it, hence the reasoning in your second line.

Except that they already have Klose and Gomez competing for one central striker position.

He'll get a few games for Bayern though, as Ribery and Robben are quite injury-prone, and they could play on either wing, but when everyone's fit, there;s no chance in hell that he's gonna get a start,
