Sterling deserves huge praise for the way he just keeps pushing himself on. He's shattered but he still fights on. And tonight that idiot Mason practically ignored the GBH on him.
Worth mentioning that Leicester had only lost 1 game previously at home in the league this season. Arsenal, United and Everton all failed to gain the 3 points. Maybe it's not the best display, but 6 points this week. Sunderland next and then a cracking atmosphere home to Basle - its just possible we will have things going the right way after that.
I agree with gkmacca that Sterling needs to get more protection from referees. He's only a young lad and he is getting consistently fouled by defenders with little response from refs.
Yep, some of the attention that Sterling got was atrocious with nothing coming for it. I actually expected Mason to give him a card for constantly being fouled towards the end.
I don't know if there's a stat for it but I'd like to know if Lucas broke a record for the most "getting a toe in" during the first half. Didn't always win the ball but broke up their play constantly.
Gerrard not at this best in first half but much better in the second. Thought he could have taken the shot earlier on the break but still a pen IMO.
Back four were solid without ever looking comfortable. Skrtel showed wonderful commitment and desperation throughout the match but still nothing like assured.
Really thought Markovic should have come on - even if it was for Sterling. Not sure why - game against Sunderland and Sterling didn't need to run his legs off ....certainly not after we got the third.
Still - another 3 points. A comfortable win against Sunderland would be fantastic and set up Basle as well.

Quite simply hes not ready. Before he came there were rumors about his attitude and dedication in training. Every time hes played hes looked slow out of shape and terrified. In a team thats cruising and winning games easily you can intigrate a guy like that and build his confidence. In a side like ours thats getting by on grit rather than skill at the moment there is no room for him to be treated with kid gloves.
I havent written the guy off, its too early for that, but hes absolutely not what we need right now
I think Sterling is more effective against defenders with pace, because often those defenders rely on their pace to make up for a lack of defensive ability, and more often than not, Sterling is faster than them anyway, so win win.
Surely they should be able to work that out on the field.
Sterling did switch sides for about 10 minutes and ran at Konchesky who, despite the fact he's utter rubbish, handled anything we gave him pretty comfortably. Probably about the best game I've seen from him so, naturally, it was against us.
His default position should be on the right anyway. Over on the left he too often has to finish his part in a move with his left foot, which is no swinger but still isn't the equal of his right. Putting him on the left and Lallana on the right is a mistake IMHO.
