Both teams were pretty crap today. Arsenal were more or less there for the taking tonight, but we just weren't good enough.

Though Howard Webb gave us a lot of the decisions as well.

Ah well.

not arsed about the pen. we were shit. why the fuck riera didn't come on for the last half hour for maxi is beyond my understanding.

Throughout the game, I thought he did.

Turned it off as soon as Gerrard hit the wall, so don't know or care what followed. We weren't good enough. Meh.

We blew that. I said at HT we were sleepwalking to a 1-0 defeat, and that's exactly what we did. We were way too passive in the first half, and gave Arsenal the time and the space they needed to regain their confidence after two brutal defeats. They could see we posed no threat at all on the counter - we were quite clearly just there for the draw - and so they stopped worrying about getting caught and upped their attacking intent. Even then, they never played very well, and if fucking Degen hadn't been our fucking RB we would have got a point. Fuckety fucking FUCK!

insua and the two center backs at fault for the goal not degen.the 2 dmf lucas and masch were awol one had to man mark abu diaby as he came in the box.

Gerrard hit the hand of Fabregas which was stuck up in the air- clear as day. The ref bottled it. No other explanation.

The ref probably tried to "even it up" after making a wrong decision on the free kick. Embarrassing really.

We were shit though.

good news is that Spurs didn't win, and Villa only gained a point on us. Let's hope Citeh lose

Shit, yeah, I s'pose. Battle for fourth it is. A timely reminder of how essentially mediocre we are without Torres, and how timid our manager can be at times. The City game in ten days' time was always more important than this one, but it's still sad to give three points to an underperforming Arsenal side in such a crappy, spiritless way.

I don't think we were shit. We were playing Arsenal at the Emirates and gave them a hard fought game, and very few chances.

That game against Man City is a must win.
[/quote]

I'm pretty sure Rafa has it down as a 'must not lose'.

But THEY were shite. It was a massive missed opportunity.

Two poor fullbacks cost us the defeat. Insua was there for the taking all night long, and Degen's a mess defensively.

And we just didn't have enough creative talent to get back into it; Dirk plus Gerrard is not enough to be relied upon against the likes of Arsenal.

I wasn't optimistic before the game and I'm not surprised how it panned out. Still hurts though. My only thought right now is not about this game, but that it doesn't disrupt our decent run of form. We must realise that we don't have to be able to beat Arsenal on the own ground. That's a tough task for anyone. We have to realise we're better than 85% of this league and absolutely batter the rest of them. If this defeat means we go on a shit run from now on then fuck it, it shows our squad's isn't mentally strong enough to deserve CL football.
