Give some other volunteers mod options but not full admin. @RedNinja can do that. Just trying to help fella but I'll leave it now as it's getting on your tits
But surely couldn't the people who wanted to post those tweet just post them in that thread? We don't need an army of mini mods when all we want is people to use common sense.

And also, if that thread existed, it would have to be a thread JUST for tweets. If it becomes a catch all thread and good discussions are lost in there then that's one of the things we want to avoid

Yeh they could. But I reckon it'll need a blend of communication and moderating for an initial period till people get used to it. I'm boring myself now

We'll debate it at length in modchat

Not tonight though, because I'm sick of all you cunts and your stupid square box faces

Er, ashamed to admit I got a bit ahead of myself there. Didn't bother to read 'Semolina Lipton''s post properly. Personally I don't see the need for that kind of thread. Just a twitter rumours thread, with clearly stated guidelines, basically just restricting the tweets posted to the typical rumour merchants: ITKs, dodgy journalists, etc. ie the stuff people like Ross want to avoid.

Anything else to be posted in other threads.

Let's face it, someone could get a call from John Henry, saying who'll we're next signing, with all the details, and if they posted it on here as an impeccable source, some will refuse to take it seriously. It's just how it is. But any speculation is fun and possible sound sources are delights. It's surely what these forums are for. That and being rude to Dreamy.

That could work too mate but people need to help to mods out by sticking to it

That's what I think, I don't mind it and it's a source of conversation valid or not

Yeah, they do. But I don't think we're as bad as some people seem to think.

Other forums have catch-all twitter threads and plenty more discussion still goes on.

Anyway, it's worth a try.

I disagree with a lot of the stuff that's been said in the last couple pages.

I'm not having all this Ross is left with no option but to behave as he is doing because of how he is being treated. In the beginning we were all treated to knowing winks and ooh, isn't Ross being clever with his master trolling skills. I thought at the time it was basically just a way to excuse an annoying / abrasive posting style and now there are more excuses yet again. He can't have any complaints if people think differently of him now because he's painted himself into that corner. I'm not that bothered by it but then I'm not that bothered by Modo or anything else really on here.

As for what you guys want for the site, it will only work if the community wants the same thing and from where I'm sitting there seems to be a bit of a divide. Most people seem happy with the likes of Hansern posting Twitter rumours. And as for threads that try and encourage debate, you only have to look at that one studsup created about Arsenal that was about to drop off the first page before I bumped it.

The bottom line for me is that we seem to have reached a point where everyone is happy enough to point out what's wrong (and basically tear the place down if you go along with Fabio's explanation for Ross) but unwilling to put in the hard work to actually change things. If that's the case, what's the point?

Other forums have a lot more members

We seem to only have 20 users active at one time (not including lurkers).

If we had more members I wouldn't mind catch all threads as some posters would start New threads frequently.

We don't have many new threads starting, even during the season

Can't Jono bust out his geek-fu and write some script that automatically recognises something off of twitter and moves it?

For what it's worth, I don't envy you guys. Especially as over the years the forum seems to be becoming less capable of self-regulating. Used to be that everything was pretty much kept on an even-keel in quite a natural fashion, but we seem less capable of it now or it's somehow less effective.

I'm not entirely sure if it is down to people not making the effort - as for instance with Modo he does play up to it and play the pantomime villain. He's had enough people tell him in a reasonable fashion that's it's fucking boring, and he seems intent on not listening, so perhaps we're all just turning into grouchy old cunts that don't give a fuck about the etiquette no more.

Maybe it's a bit like a marriage that's gotten a bit stale . . . perhaps everyone's known each other for too long, perhaps everything's been said and we've run out of anything new and interesting . . . or perhaps we've just got complacent and lazy.

However, a lot of what Mark says is totally valid, I think all of us have to take responsibility for what this place is, because this place is us - we gotta make it what we want. We need to put in the effort.

Perhaps we need a cunt amnesty, where everyone tries that little bit harder not to be a dick, or not to react to someone being a dick so they've got nothing to feed off, and actually try a little bit harder to inject quality over quantity.

Most of the people on here are capable of that, and they know it

But what's the worst that can happen?

Just call it a twitter rumours thread. Only rumours, no normal transfer stories, they're still for the rest of the forum. If it doesn't work after a week or two then just shut it down.

In the meantime Ross et al can shut the fuck up.

Twitter itself should not be the problem. It is the fastest way of getting decent news. If we just wait for newspaper reports then the site will be way behind everywhere else.

Here's an idea for ya. Create a Twitter shite thread, lock it. Mods move any non respectable journo shit in there so it can be read and not replied to. That way people can still read it but not reply and debate in other threads stays fluid

I actually suggested something similar about 2 years ago when we first started with these Twitter discussions.
Would be a good solution.

I agree. Twitter isn't the devil. It's just knowing which sources are appropriate to post

Are we seriously going to start moderating what sources people quote on this forum?

Who the fuck cares. If someone is using a forum as a place for information about LFC -- and I'd question that whole project -- the whole premise surely must be that they can take everything with a grain of salt, and evaluate the sources.

And if someone posts a shit source, they can receive the sort of self-policing derision that defines this lovable shithole. They can be told its stupid, and that they should feel bad, and have a big think about what brought them to this place.

You know who else has rules about sources, and moves and removes certain posts? It rhymes with cawk.

Two things;

1 - This moaning shite happens every summer. There are no games, we're all bored, and all we've got is a mixture of players who may or may not leave, combined with a bunch of players who may or may not come - and every single one of us has a view on players greater than any match.

We win 4-0, everyone's view - "yeah we're good". Thread over.

Lucas plays, everyone's view - WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!

For as long as I can remember, summetime has been a shitfest on this forum. Stuff will be back to relative normality once games start.

2 - I don't want Higuain.

I agree with this, but it's obviously a problem for Rosco, and that seems to be enough to make it a problem for us since we spend ages arguing about this bollocks. So a Twitter rumours thread seems a reasonable compromise.

But yeah, the best solution of all would be for Fabio et al to just tell Ross to shut the fuck up and get a life.

Personally I think you're trying to hard to shape the discussion, as Keniget said, people will discuss, what people want to discuss. Better discussion points are great, however you risk stifling the boards completely if you try and set a minimum bar. FWIW, I don't agree with a catch all twitter thread, I just believe it should come down to common sense, people shouldn't be starting threads based upon a tweet from Jamie cunting Sanderson, maybe from one of the reputable journalists about breaking news, but still that's a push. If people are posting tweets from ITK Joe and talking like it's facts, then the forum should just (politely) self moderate. One thing that's sure to have come from all this shit is that intentionally or not, people will be much more cautious about what they post from twitter in future. I think Singlerider nails this though, we need a cunt amnesty, you know who I think needs one most, but it's more than just him, the site is on edge at the moment, we all need a bit of a reset.

@Ryan

Why don't you want Higuain?

Genuine question, not seen him play for a couple of years so I don't have any real opinion myself tbh.

I've always heard he's amazing, but every time I've seen him play (all five times) he's looked distinctly average to me, well maybe not average, but not as amazing as people seem to suggest.
